Harakiri has been done with both Ani and J’s characterisation… it’s just how viewers will view one and the other..based on whether there is justification for a particular behaviour in a situation
To be fair…I did not expect Jhanak in the circumstances to be supportive of Ani since the set up was so poor and given her deep seated issues about her parentage etc; her wanting to hold on to the vestiges of moral propriety is understandable even if it is clear she is deeply conflicted about it. I expected the narrative to draw that out from the moment the baby announcement played out. The director, scripting department just missed a big trick…for missing the trick in showing the arc in J’s character
If Ani cannot recognise he has been violated, I wouldn’t assume that Jhanak will have the intelligence or understanding given her frazzled state..
BUT giving her that lines of Bhashan perched on that high moral ground just took away from the point of what it meant to be Jhanak, Shristi’s daughter, Arshi’s sister and Ani’s beloved at that crossroads of a moment. Her wanting to do right by her sister etc wasn’t the point… it was the way she did it.. A sensible scripting guy could have turned the spotlight on her emotions frazzled, shocked stupefied and run this through differently.
Made J steely stoic simply going through the motions, or made J uncharacteristically cool about it and asking Ani to do right by Arshi..and walking away to have a meltdown later… The arc comes in to play in the high or impactful moments. Jhanak having an epiphany about her contradictions may be sometime way ( if intended ever that is) but showing a Jhanak whose duality is unravelling needed context which the stupid scenes of taking the high moral ground completely took away from.
First of all that baby trap was such a sadist thing to pull off by Leena that both characters were just drawn back into their corners but with more sadism piled on… I have no idea where this is going and anyways the essence of the sweet Runak story is sullied and I don’t mean by just this act but the way this has all been set up with innuendos
Ani’s arc had shown progress in the sense of him being clearer about his intentions as time went by and the narrative seemed to indicate that if not for the baby trap he might have moved ahead…The baby trap was a classic trap to shut him up for one who was already shown extremely apologetic about asking Arshi to move out in a hasty way.
Yet there is such shoddy writing for Ani too in the sense that we are all supposed to think that Ani is such a stupid guy that he sees Arshi’s behaviour to Jhanak and hasn’t been able to see her wicked side BUT the point is even with all the expediency I can still relate to Ani if I treat him as solely as a person whose trust in innate goodness of Arshi is a force of habit, his inability to divine his exploitation at her hands.
For me, the current situation is they redux of Aag incident… only thing is here, Ani treats Jhanak as collateral damage but he isn’t in a position to extricate himself to help her so he has let her go. ( like Nina said earlier FOR NOW) Is it Jhanak who can extricate him out of this situation or his inability to stay unaffected by what happens to Jhanak is the q.
Here he is behaving exactly like how he behaved with Arshi post Aag. He just has accepted his life with Arshi again FOR NOW
THIS IS THE RINSE REPEAT CYCLE THAT LEENA USES AND WE NEED TO BREAK
BY…..
RUNNING AWAY 😂😂😂😂😂
