My thoughts on this - Vivian has raised this issue with CD before, many times and when he nominated her during ES's TG period. She also appreciated his concern about wanting her to come out of the shadow and she said this when she cried with TB. All this was mostly before SK said that to Vivian.
Time and time again, we have seen Vivian repect her point of view and even ask for it. His funny moments with her are lovely to watch. I think the show runners have spoiled this organic relation on purpose...
