What in the mama mia is this promo? Okay, is this a musical mistakenly advertised as an epic romance? This is giving me secondhand embarrassment.
If Qarz e jaan is a commercial drama as per some, then this is definitely a musical cum kaddu's son's launch project.
The writer used to write well and maybe still does. The director is sooo good. I feel kaddu over-compensated everyone in some way, and now they feel indebted to him.
I feel so bad for Wahaj. During TB, MPHT started so well with his diary writing dialogues, and then something happened. It dragged and turned weird at the end and flopped. Some blamed Director Badar Hania, and Zavi. But he directed Kabhi main Kabhi Tum, so he may not be the problem.
Then came 22 qadam and that too flopped. But I appreciated him doing a cricket-centric drama. I thought it would do so well since he did TB which was his first big commercial blockbuster, and 22Q being a cricket-centric drama, then a lot of male viewers would watch, and Green did great promotion, but as usual, it started out well and then went off topic into a tangent. But I'm glad that was made. I'm sure that too had its target audience. It had some women empowerment themes going on, but unfortunately people did not make it big.
Then came Mein. I found it to be fine. It was all about ego, and I liked how no one ended up with anyone but their own consequences. Daddy and Mubashra hit it out of the park. The script wasn't the issue this time. Even now I don't know what exactly didn't come together. Maybe screen time or maybe Zaid as a character did not feel like a strong independent character even at the end. He felt like a loser who got moved around like a pawn by his two wives and dad. Like the character Mustafa portrayed as someone who the society may call a loser (I disagree personally), Fahad did it with so much confidence and conviction that you felt it and believed it. Wahaj looked tired to me, and I felt that he did not have that conviction of whatever that role required. He seemed zoned out.
Jurm was very okay. Compared to miniseries like Razia, ek thi Laila, or Gunnah, it was so typical and forgettable.
Now this SMD. The hype caused harm as there was too much pressure on the Director and Actors. TB and JBG success was organic. This one's writing, or maybe the execution, has made my dimag sunn. It's Kaddu, or the 7th Sky head writer. What a flop and very embarrassing too.
I feel for Wahaj. It's like being put in a group project in college with kids who do nothing and you do everything. And when it's time to present, they don't show up, or they don't know their content, and you all get a D.
To me this says that a consistent logical script is king as always. GM and SMD proved that.
This was never a Y vs W. This is why I prefer characters and storylines. That way I'm saved from disappointment when and if my favorites shows does not work out for me personally and can move onto other projects not featuring them.
W should seek someone who has some good knowledge about script. Are there script readers who professionally vet projects? But I do understand it's also luck and everything coming together. Sometimes the script is incomplete.
Please DM me if anything is bothersome. I can edit or rephrase if the request is fair.
Sorry but pleas move the discussion in other thread. This is not appropriate place to discuss as this page is for discussing TRPs only. You can talk in Chit Chat thread. Otherwise don't blame anyone if it gets into vault.
