"Nobody changes overnight. Growth and change demand time. It’s not realistic to expect someone like Shahnawaz to become a knight in shining armour all of a sudden. I won’t be interested if he doesn’t undergo character development and a redemption arc. Rushed storylines purely based on fanservice ruin the essence of the original story. The journey from enemies to lovers needs to be a slow burn to feel authentic, unfolding gradually."
"Yes, deep down, he might have developed genuine feelings for her at some point but probably didn’t know how to make sense of them or handle them. He snapped out of it and buried those feelings once he realized he had a goal to achieve—in this case, his brother’s freedom. So, anyone who jeopardizes this will have to be pushed aside. Falling in love is not part of his plan and sabotages his game. So he will try to fight against it. And a villain in love is still a villain at the end of the day. His moral compass isn’t yet functioning as it should, so he will need to work on it to truly understand the value of love and empathy. I believe Mehru will be the means of his awakening.
Regarding Amal, he can’t just drop her like that because she was his fiancée, and he married Mehru to trap her, not out of love. He had no intentions to pursue a real relationship with her. It was part of his game. Well, that’s how I interpret the story."

Agree with everything but @bold: he didn't want to marry Amal either! He was surprised when Saman said she'll talk to safdar etc. about him being in love! You think, he has no intentions to keep Mehru in his life? If so, maafinaama could have been obtained through 100 other ways!
BTW the news about Shahnawaz marrying a poor, orphan girl kind of upsets me! Mehru was no bechaari abla naari in need of support/rishta from bada khaandaan! The news is like embarrassing Mehru & her self-respect

@Bold, I don't agree with that part but I kind of agree with her that Shahnawaz right now is a villain in Mehru's life. He wants her/desires her/loves/likes, but does not respect her ideologies or values them. What is love without respect? And this is something his journey is going to be, from only looking and seeing his wants/desires(being a totally self-obsessed) to be about wanting her happiness and respecting her and even imbibing her ideologies.
With Amal, its about what his mother wants, for him its him, his mother and brother, everyone else exists to bring happiness to them.
Btw that wasn't my post. It was a comment from insta on that post which I found interesting.

I won't say he is in love with mehru but he clearly is obsessed and attracted towards her and wanted her for himself. His reason of marrying her being a maafinama is dumb af. Seeing how powerful he is and having not that much moral compas he and his mother could have easily twisted the truth or pressured mehru's family more. His lawyer already made a solid plan to release zain out of jail and mehru wouldnt have able to do anything if the driver was proven to be the real culprit. She neither had the resources nor proof to keep fighting the case. But bhaisaab ko shaadi rachakal maafinaame pe sign karake zain ko bahar nikalwana tha. The easy way won't get him mehru.

Is it just me? Or going by his expressions, he was liking the way she was haq jamaoing in the house?
