Kuch bhi progress aata he Ani ke muh kholne se hi aata he be it positive or negative in this show, In my pov...

And when he asked RC to stay back also it was HIS choice, because he was feeling bad for her according to his own dialogues.

Family pressure might be one of the reasons but I think the Major reason is his soft corner towards RC, which needs to be addressed immediately, because for me, family pressure hi reason hota toh accha hota, but clearly that's not true...

Which was a bitter pill to swallow for me by the way...

And in that RC didi pregnant track, even if they keep him mum...

(which is highly unlikely to me based on his character graph, but don't know, cause Leena Maata ki jai ho),

then as @sanfan suggested, maybe Jhanak will do something...

But Ani ka always kuch toh stand hoga be it against Jhanak or in favour of jhanak. I think he'll never be quiet and takes a stand based on what he believes in to be true...

But wo truth kya he at that point, that's the question...

I have read it as indifference usually but in the baby track I do remember him trying to use Arshi as a cover against Jhanak to prove he is committed to Arshi although we know how long that lasted 😂😂 he was back to mooning over J..

I agree...even I wouldn't call it a "soft corner"....their equation is too awkward to fit that label.

They have never shown a natural comfort level between them either of two people who've known each other for many years. Arshi just catwalks in and out of any space screaming or barking orders and Ani is usually shown retorting back based on the level of aggressiveness she shows towards him....lol ismein SOFT toh kisi bhi angle se kuch hai hi nahin....sab harsh hi hai.

And yes, he has used Arshi as a cover many times during his fights with Jhanak but beyond that I never got the impression he has some latent emotions for her. The aag track is where he showed a lot of compassion and went the extra mile to support her (again I feel out of pity for her condition) but even there, he was having phases of floundering with his emotions whenever Jhanak was mentioned or when he saw J in front of him.....then he invariably reverts to the zone of using Arshi as a cover to pretend like he isn't bothered by J's indifference towards him.....that is a battle he usually loses invariably.

He is more volatile about it in Jhanak's case because there are actually deep/raw emotions involved there. But in Arshi's case, it is basically the general empathy you have towards a person who is crying about their hurt. He was shown saying in his monologue that he asked Arshi to stay cuz he felt bad for her. Apart from that, his family relentlessly pressurizes him to stay with Arshi....so I think it's a combination of these factors that made him ask her to stay. If it was an actual soft corner, he would be shown making more effort to make Arshi happy....but he doesn't do that. He reluctantly gives in to the pressure of everyone demanding he stay with Arshi but isn't able to do more than that. That is why he was shocked and uncomfortable about the baby planning discussion also. Arshi and his family are in their own delusion where they think if he agrees for one thing, that means they are fully controlling him.

True that... Yeah, maybe soft corner is not the right word...

But kuch toh residual he, more than just basic human empathy I feel...

Some leftover responsibility or may be a thought that ONCE he LOVED her. I don't think it's wrong to have it too... IF they resolve it properly in the future...

Otherwise love story which is already almost lost will be fully lost...

Something definitely unresolved he Ani ko, RC keliye. Isiliye ye sab situations me padta he RC ko leke...

Otherwise who'll ask her to stay back as his WIFE and even if he's unable to try even a bit, he assured her he wants to stay with her and start a family with her...

As you mentioned before in another post, him being practical is TRYING to move on with her EVENTUALLY but his heart couldn't let go of Jhanak even when his mind knows she's dead...

That means in some corner of his heart, RC chapter is not fully closed... He has full clarity he loves Jhanak but RC kya he uske life me wo abhi decide nehi kar pa raha he...

That's the reason he is unable to completely let her go... Or kick her out even when she spews hatred towards Jhanak and keeps reminding him how much he hates her now...

That's the reason Ani keeps insisting to RC to make the choice of leaving him and the other day he begged Jhanak also ki "mujhe is uljhan se bahar nikalo".

But noone is giving him freedom from RC, not even himself, if that makes sense... Everyone keeps pushing RC towards him...and now I can see that he himself has a minute part in that too...

@bold: honestly, I have no idea, people call her RC, Charsi. I know it's some form of insult and I go with it... That too I started recently, after she showed her true colours...

I guess you are probably thinking this from the perspective that when Ani "resolves" why he still tries to make it work with Arshi even now, he will have irrevocable clarity about moving on with Jhanak?

That would be too much expectation from the level of writing Leena is serving. Anishi relationship has been obviously shallow from day one....but Leena pushes the forced narrative of "long term rishta" and "Ani bahut pyar karta tha Arshi se"....evidence of which we have never been shown - we are just TOLD and expected to believe.

Also, if we go by your theory, then that would prove Ani's statements to be lies where he has openly told Arshi he doesn't love her and he has clarified that too Jhanak many times too. I don't think he's lying in those statements.....he's very clear that he doesn't love Arshi and he doesn't want to stay with her also. The fact that he told Jhanak again in the recent scene that yeh ghar already toot chuka hai and ab nahin jud sakta....and asked why can't a person end a relationship officially and move on? These statements clearly show that he wants to leave Arshi. He only dithers when he feels that Jhanak may not accept him and THEN he considers the "practical" option if you will of trying to make it work with Arshi somehow.....and he keeps failing at that option each time. But his family still keeps forcing him ki make it work with Arshi, then he gives in after a lot of pressure.

As for why he is not able to free himself of Arshi....the rebellion doesn't go all the way through because something always pulls him back from the brink....and it's always an external situation...has nothing to do with any internal conflict related to Arshi. This time also it was about Jhanak being plucked away from his life and declared dead....otherwise he had made it very clear that he was firmly going to end things with Arshi.

If Leena was capable of writing anything halfway mature, she would show Ani realizing he never loved Arshi...it was a companionship and habit of however many years they spent together....dating does not automatically mean actual love. But Leena has to prop up Arshi, so she never shows Ani reflecting to that level.....all he gets are a few dialogues about blaming Srishti as the cause of the problems between him and Arshi and also the reason for why he fell for Jhanak.....lol this is not what unfolded in the story per what we saw....but they don't want to show Ani delving that deep to actually point out how he has never shared that kind of deep connection with Arshi....lol

#1 problem with the theory you are posing is that Arshi as a person just doesn't have ANY quality that one would find believable for Ani having latent unresolved emotions for

INSAAN toh ban le pehle Arshi didi toh kisi ko yakeen ho ki Ani aisi ladki ke saath itne saal bhi kaise tik gaya who literally treats him like a slave to control and trot around for social events

All I see from the constant repetitive narrative is Ani's family hyping and hailing Arshi as great celebrity, rich person so that is why ideal match for Ani....lol Ani himself is never shown listing out any notable qualities for why he supposedly loved Arshi....lol

And now he says things like "Tum ITNI bhi buri nahin ho".....kis angle se yeh "soft corner" hua phir bhai? ....soft corner ke liye a person has way more respect and regard.....I don't see Ani having that for Arshi. I mainly see him feeling some pity and guilt towards her as a product of having known her for many years so trying to give her consideration out of that.

Asli self-reflection toh Ani ko karni chahiye about what a SHALLOW life he's lived for so long dating a loser like Arshi .....but again, Leena will never allow that to happen cuz uski laadli ki asliyat apparent ho jaayegi phir and LAXMI wala narrative contradict ho jaayega....lol so they keep Ani mute deliberately rather than pointing out how ghatiya Arshi actually is.
