SMD is actually pretty similar to Pyare Afzal. Hero in one sided love , heroine thinks poorly of him and yet to realise her love. Only difference is that Yasmin was positive and Humsha is negative.

I really liked PA back then. I never saw PA as love story romance but as a drama about Afzal and the twists and turns his life take. There are some similarities for sure but PA was a male-centric story while SMD is more female-centric one (so more like Mann Jali in that sense).

In PA, Afzal had its own journey and arc in the second half independent of Farah. I don't think we will get that in SMD. They didn't even bother showing us BA's journey as he gets over his past traumas, or his journey from being an alcohol addict to being sober. It all happened offscreen in time lapse. Even his backstory gets very few lines and BA doesn't even speak all of them.

The underworld backdrop was a rich addition in PA and was integral to the plot, not so shallow like the hotel empire in SMD. Imagine if BA was a tech CEO with multiple offices and Sadaaf an IT major. Would it have made any difference to the plot? No.

Yasmeen was also more multidimensional and thank god was connected to Afzal's character not Farah's. Humsha here has no character trait in SMD other than kaan bharna. She has no conversation beyond Sadaf's love life (whether Sadaf linkup with Amaar or Sadaf link up with BA. Even With BA her conversations are about Sadaf and not BA's life outside of Sadaf).

PA was KRQ at his peak , no doubt on that . Now either he doesn’t care or is just too lazy . He is just recycling his old stuff.

The difference between the two couples is that Humsha and Bilal are true to their feelings for the ones they love. On the other hand I am sure Sadaf doesn’t love Ammar and even his feelings doesn’t seem genuine.

Ok just to play devil’s advocate:

I want to start off by acknowledging that Sadaf is totally dumb for saying yes to Ammar but I can understand some things from her side. Bilal Abdullah is an incredibly kind man that does not take advantage of anyone’s weakness. That however doesn’t automatically qualify him to be the ideal partner. As far as Sadaf knows he still drinks, has marasim (or whatever that word is 😂) with women. He could be nice yet still indulge in this lifestyle. The mom is completely enamoured by him and she should be very grateful as he did so much for them. I think her saying that he might ask for her hand in marriage and she won’t be able to deny him anything, scared Sadaf. Sure she made this terrible offer to him already but this would be something lifelong. Also I think the mom knows he’s interested…maybe she picked up on it or Zaviyaar said something because he definitely knows. She’s over the moon about the thought of this….getting all excited about the expensive gifts too when Sadaf was apprehensive. Personally I would just be uncomfortable since he’s already done so much. Maybe Sadaf thinks she isn’t thinking clearly.

Bilal is an open book, he’s made no attempt to hide his vices and Humsha has taken advantage of that. Ammar on the other hand, plays the nice guy hiding his own ugliness inside. I personally feel she was gravitating towards Bilal whereas we saw that she never felt anything for Ammar in spite of all him declaring his love for her. I feel her own feelings scared her a bit and maybe she felt more control of the situation if she was committed.

Do I still think she’s annoying? Yes! Especially when she’s questioning his intentions. It’s really sad to be almost punished for helping someone and doing it with the purest of intentions. She’s known Humsha for a while and I don’t think she thinks that she has a reason to lie. As far as she knew, Humsha was with Faraaz. But it is still very frustrating seeing her being manipulated in this matter.

Me too I never hated haya. She was like a clown, all her efforts would go in vain but humsha is winning, naagin is spreading vemon everywhere with her negative aura.

My favorite character's are murtasim and hamza. Bilal is yet to impress me fully and even if he does I think he'd be at the 3rd position because my love for hamza and murtasim is for infinity.
