That's the beauty of the epic. There was no mention of Ram taking Bhramacharya during vanvaas or Kaikeyi asking him.Sita assures him that she will maintain celibacy so that he can take her with him.Its not mentioned anywhere else but logically the couple being quite intelligent and wise knew that giving birth to a child and raising him or her in forest when one doesn't neven have a solid roof over your head is no joke.So the reasons for abstinence is more logical and practical. For others it was more emotional
1.Lakshman accompanied his brother ,was physically separated from wife ,not having a child before the eldest one.He wanted to be close to his brother and hence was happy with him.
2.Bharat lives in Nandigram as an ascetic ,away from everyone and did all the administrative work.So he was literally alone with no mental support unlike Ram who had great moral support from Sita and lakshman.Vanvaas was toughest for Bharat. He was away from his consort ,not having a child before the eldest one.
3.Though Shatrugan was not mentioned in detail in the epic,we can safely assume that being the youngest he probably had much easier unlike the other three. We can assume that perhaps the responsibilities were not dumped on him.But during the vanvaas ,he stepped up and did all the leg work for Bharata. After all Bharta never stepped foot inside Ayoddhya .A kingdom without king is vulnerable so Shatrugan must have physically manned the borders and looked over the subjects, looked after the 350 wives of Dashratha ,stayed with his wife yet CHOSE not have a child before the eldest one .Because whoever has the first child will technically become the next king as all the 4 were of same age.
As soon as the trio returns, the 4 princesses conceive shortly afterwards.
I also feel that,,,for brothers it wld have been even more difficult,,bcz Ram and Sita were together,, mentally and emotionally happy & invested into each other,,,Lakshman and Bharat serving their respective duties happily but literally had no mental & emotional support to share with anyone,,,as they were also separated frm their wives,,that guilt of Lakshman for choosing Ram's service but in this process, compromised on husband's duty must hv been there, though not considered enough,,but again a continuous turmoil going on deep inside,,,same for Bharat,, with added on guilt for what Kaikeyi had done,,,I feel sabse mushkil in dono ke liye hoga,,as lakshman wld be keeping himself engaged in manual work in vanvas giving space to couple,,Bharat must be fighting the remorse plus shouldering all responsibilities but didn't accepting facilities of rajya,,,shatrughna and Ram atleast had their wives to share the agony with,,Bharat & Lakshman can't share their agony with anyone,,,Bharat can't share much with Shatrughna who was already younger and had to handle many things,,, lakshman Never became weak in front of Ram,,, otherwise he may send him back as he tried also once,,,,
Both of them never expressed though but that emptiness wld hv been difficult to handle sometimes for both of them...
Lakshman had that mental satisfaction that atleast he was doing the thing he wanted to do( tho last year was way more Challenging and again adding guilt and pressure on his side as for what happened to Sita and the breakdown of Ram which he himself never witnessed earlier so handling him with that guilt of not able to save Sita and that harsh talk between Sita & Lakshman b4 abduction),,Bharat had great challenge there too(misunderstood for what he has not done & still carrying out responsibilities till return of Ram),,,,
challenging situations erupting and how to manage is something these characters teaches us....all brothers and sisters...
Really the self control shown by all 4 couples was really great...
