according to gita press valmiki ramayan the ashvamedh yagya was completed in one year as the horse returned unchallenged after a year

might be shatrughn stayed for one year in ayodhya or keep visiting it alternatively

for now based on the current episodes, as lord shiva narrated how luv and kush have a lot to undergo before become rama's heirs, i think makers will want to focus on that and i think they'll start the track if luv and kush entering the ayodhya premise...
