Alia is a pretty girl and a good actress. It simply was never enough for Bollywood. She looks smaller than everyone else,probably because of the baby face and lack of oomph. I don't think Kiara and Sraddha are tall. But somehow,you don't notice it. With Alia,it is the first impression. This has been a major disadvantage for her.

I felt, that at the beginning, this appearance suited her roles.

It was RK,with whom Kjo was besotted. Kjo groomed Alia (and her career) for RK after Rankat breakup, against her best interests. Kjo played director with real people's lives. Post YJHD, in great haste, he got the Ibiza bikini photos posted with Ayan tagging along..Public,who don't spend all their time on BW sites were aghast and disillusioned.Whether people agree or not YJHD was that romcom film.Most RKDP shippers are young girls who reached teenage ,during that time. Kjo then got Rankat to move in together with a'public" gruh pravesh-which caused the Kapoors great pain. Had they been patient in front of the public, and been seen together at random places..RK would have not got the hate( He had a spate of flops and never got his romantic image back) and DP,the sympathy.Anyway,under pressure Rankat broke up. Since then Kjo started grooming Alia to be Ranbir's GF. He tried to age her..make her do films with older actors,play married women.. Dress up older. For Rocky and Rani,Alia was in sarees.. Kjo needed Alia to be in the same bracket as her seniors Kat and DP. And of course the No.1 star tag. 3 seasons of KWK was dedicated to DP vs Alia .

Without Kjo,Alia would have done much better and enjoyed her career more.Varia days were the best for Alia.Her fanbase exploded.She looked so pretty and fresh then.

Nowadays nepo kids r easily surviving through PR.

Jhanvi, ananya, Arjun, tiger, Sara, siddarth etc have string of flops n everyone is surviving.

Alia just proved to be lucky with few hit movies.

Although I didn't know that Karan was "besotted" with Ranbir, I knew that both had a lot in common which showed through the way some gossip was done.

I fully agree with grooming Alia towards a relation with Ranbir, though. Will never understand why Karan did so.

The thought that Alia should leave Karan's influence only came to me after Raazi. The way she responded to Vicky Kaushal's acting and Meghna Gulzar's direction showed me that she was able to adapt her youthful appearance to the challenges of a mature character. Already her work with SRK and Gauri Shinde was a step towards autonomy.

And yes again, for romance and comedy, Alia and Varun was a perfect pairing, imo too.

Everything after Raazi - except the self produced and RedChillies backed Darlings - had been mismatches to her personality, I felt.
