Agreed that not everyone who criticizes it is a hater. There are just so many haters watching clips and keeping up with it for the sake of criticizing that unfortunately genuine criticism is being lumped in that category. I think there are definitely well meaning people that are not seeing how she jumped to that decision. I get it and her reasoning makes sense to me, but if there is a fair number of people with same opinion then maybe it would have been better to explain things in more detail.Originally posted by: hypnotoad
we have to accept that there are plenty of people who criticizede8 are those who are not haters, are w fans, have praised smd in the past, and are not aware of any fandom related issues.
if you are going to show your female lead take this step which people consider morally religiously and legally reprehensible, it was essentially to have scenes where you see sadaf breaking down bit by bit, having all roads and options closing on her. you had to make the viewers believe her desperation and how fragile she is getting mentally and is literally having a breakdown and acting irrationally by taking such a drastic step. This should've been her sarr pe kafan baandh ke ghar se nikalna moment, a dead man walking or the prisoner walking the Green Mile. they could have shown her getting ready and first wearing lipstick but then wiping it off- opting to dress like someone jo apne janazay pe ayi hai. instead of the long pauses, camera zooms, scenes where we hear voiceovers of dialogues said 2 seconds ago, and repetitive scenes, long drawn out needless cid investigations in episodes prior, we should have gotten this instead.
we have seen female cktrs sell their bodies in sacrifice to save their children's well-being in films in BW films (like Tabu in Chandni Bar) and audiences have sympathized with such cktrs. But the director failed to put in the leg work to build that sympathy. even in that itv show where the FL sleeps with her boss to get money for her son's health care, they showed her exhaust other options.
Also, what was the point of Sadaf to keep insisting she is willing to do anything. She could have asked once. BA could have shut her down immediately and given her the check. She could have said why didn't you give it to my father and BA could have said he didn't know. After that Sadaf could have taken the check and left. Her insisting on it again and again even when BA said no just made the whole thing so bizarre. None of it added anything to the scene. BA could have had his cktr growth even if Sadaf just said it once.
I really think with some of these tweaks, they could have sold the premise much better. right now everyone is just coming up with reasons to fill up the blanks when it was the director and writer's job to do so.
That being said, I noticed that most comments on YouTube are positive so that either means that the general public is ok with the explanation or Wahaj’s fan base (who may be just blindly appreciating) is a lot larger than I thought.

The criticism has been unanimous from blogs and reviewers alike. Comments under posts have plenty of neutral audience bashing that scene and writing and even top comments on reviews have been people agreeing.
Being a Wahaj fan this whole scenario is making me struggle to like the characters and I really wanted to. No amount of tears being shed is making me feel anything for Sadaf or make sense of her. And it’s unfortunate because yes I see that makers spent money on this and effort but sadly director should have focused on content/script more. The additions/omissions you mentioned is basic common sense any director should have.

Certain audience will never like the show
Those who hate KRQ
Those who hate Wahaj
Those who hate Maya
Those who hate Mahaj together
Those who hate anything Geo/7th sky / Kadwani
That’s fair, if you don’t like something and can’t connect to it, you can’t force yourself. I think some of the criticism is also fair. I’ve criticized it myself, mainly for its pacing so I get it.Originally posted by: Stormborn01

Critics might hate it and comments under their posts might include criticism from the neutral audience but those shows get a fraction of the views that SMD is getting on YouTube. There is an audience for it and they seem fine with it. Trust me, I’ve seen shows whose YouTube comments are filled with criticism and this one isn’t like that. Something is connecting to people. I think it could have had a bigger audience had the pacing been better.
Yes those people will hate it no matter what, and will also make sure they keep up with the show through clips just to hate on it. However I know some criticism for it also genuine. It is controversial so I do expect varying opinions.

Like I said, KRQ and controversy go hand in hand. In fact I expect more as the show progresses.
True but I find problematic issues in most shows. I don’t know but I’m enjoying the show so far. My only complaint is the pacing and the lack of Wahaj in some episodes. I guess they needed to build Sadaf’s story but I hope the screen space is more balanced going forward.

YT maybe but ratings say otherwise. Pretty dismal initially and continued to be behind shows with less popular actors. It was stuck at 5 for 3 weeks and only just crossed 6. Let’s see how it manages going ahead. Maybe the controversy will help.
Truthfully, I feel it’s a bit slow to watch live but let’s see. More than views, my point was about how the comments were mostly positive on YouTube. Even TikTok actually has been pretty positive. I think a lot people don’t even put much thought into stuff they watch…it’s just entertainment for them.Originally posted by: Stormborn01
