I did not start it. I only qouted the person who said Hindus don't name their children Muslim names and gave examples.

Firstly, languages are not religious. Dua is a common word across north Indian languages. Everyone uses, believe it or not, more Persian/Urdu words (both of which are *Indo-Iranian languages just like Sanskrit) than Sankrit-prabuddh tatsam shabds in North India. I am 99.9 % sure you say "aaj main bahut khush hoon" instead of "main aaj ke divas atyadhik anandit/harshit/sukhi hoon" and "Kisi ki dua/badua lag gayi" instead of kisi ka shraap/archana lag gaya"

Nirvaan is a much more religion-specific concept than a generic "Dua" which is regularly used across India by many people and is a Hindu surname. And just because Aryan, Nirvaan, Farah's children, Farhan's children, Arpita Khan, Mumtaz's daughters, the Dutt siblings are children of interfaith marriages doesn't mean their parents are special unicorns or their faith is sublimated because of buncha baby names lol.

Further, why should anyone else satisfy someone else's idea of religion? Why should all the Hìndus refrain from using Urdu-Persian (Urdu/Persian/Arabic ≠ Ìslam/Christianity) names because some random dude's self-identiry is fragile? Or, why should all or any Musĺims have to specifically pick Sanskritic (Sanskrit ≠ Hinduism) names to prove their i-don't-know-what-exactly.

Why is name-giving a religious competition lol. I say this as someone who has an Ancient Sanskrit name that most people can't understand. You see more Hindustani (Urdu-Hindi) names than Sanskritic names because Hindustani is spoken more lmao.

Which is why western Christians have more Germanic, Latin names than Hebrew/Armaic names. Not because they are becoming Germanic/Roman pagans but because languages are not religious, and they speak more Germanic and Latin languages than Hebrew/Armaic.

P.S. I cannot think of any Muslìm×2 couple who had children in Bollywood. But East Indian Muslims/Christians and South Indian Mùslims/Christians do name their children names from their mother tongue just as any other people lmao.

Having an indentity-crisis over baby names must be a thing for well-adjusted adults. Sheesh.

Well written essay but why did you not qoute those in the thread who expressed shock at Hindus naming their kids with Muslim names ?? I merely corrected that person, gave examples and just put out a counter question. You should be pressed at those who brought this entire Hindu Muslim debate in the thread in the first place and given them a lecture 1st. And I am not the one who did it.

By the way, I have no expert opinion on celeb baby names. I do not even know why you assumed I have a problem with the name Dua. smiley29
