I think both make confusing statements about their friendship to each other and others.
I recall, starting of BB, VD says in the garden area about KV: I know him since long, years. I stopped counting because it (or he) is not important to me.
To each other, they come and meet in passing.. Outside BB you could picture they meet in secrecy, both in own cars under a desolated bridge or something.. Exchange info or brief conversation, and without goodbyes, they will be on their way.
They will always manipulate each other by saying we are friends right... We know each other for years right... From younger days right... Etc... Family is watching, to keep each other sharp...
They are clearly frenemies in the game.. Competition is on.. But they are friends.. They wish each other well.. They both worked around the same time so that creates a bond too.. They keep a respect for each other and they do listen to each other.. Vivian tipped KV to be himself and not stoop low and KV tipped know what you are doing, you are not being yourself and you look weak, Avi looks stronger. So these are undercover tips for each other.. Regardless of them speaking to each other or not, they will always find a way to convey the message..
