There is a slight change in my pov about the mela eps after reading your post and I have to guess something along this lines was what the writers intended to do - but didn't bring this out well enough or even if Virat said things along these lines, the reason was lost between all the other ott things he said and did - and they did give the scene some 3 eps or so... so the real thing got lost.
Had mentioned before that one may kill someone in anger (even conceivable that one may molest someone in anger) but marrying someone in anger felt way off. But:
In his mind at that moment, she leaked the clip and did the fake marriage thing deliberately so that she can extort money from him. Though the 'proofs' were stupid, to him they proved she was undoubtedly doing this also in cahoots with her mom. How do I punish her? give her what she wanted / mocked... marry her but make her life hell. [Of course doesn't make sense when she can try to kill his mom like she did now... but the rest of the things seem to fit.]
Seems like the reason they went ahead with the stupid plot... and probably were surprised at the reaction from the viewers. It doesn't sound way different from my (or our) earlier pov, but the ott scenes and dialogues made it worse than it could have been.
As for her reaction... I'd say that makes even less sense. She may have entertained the idea of getting married to him, she may have subconsciously wanted it too (wont use the word 'soul') ... and especially because of this, wont she feel even more disgusted with him? She did show that disgust a bit after she came back to her home... but it wasn't enough at least to my liking. I'd say i'd have felt like pouring a whole bottle of Dettol and having a bath after that. ... burn those outfits she was wearing, break/throw away those bangles... something similar to what she did with Nimmi after Rajeev got exposed. At that point of time, it was her reaction that was very underwhelming.
