so yeah ..this dialogue makes it clear that his problem is not the love but the gratitude and guilt derived from his identity …he can live without his family so long as they don’t disown him….while he shares blood with Madhav, it is Vidya’s acceptance that has made him a Poddar ..if she had flat out refused to, I don’t think Kaveri would have forced her ..Armaan would’ve likely grown up in a hostel or an orphanage of sorts with the family taking care of his expenses …I doubt Madhav would’ve walked out with his son..if he had been that kind of a man, Armaan would not be as tormented as he is today …when Vidya declares that he is not her son, his identity is lost ..and he cannot bear the pain and guilt of something like that happening when he feels so indebted to them for giving it to him in the first place ..the only way Armaan and Abhira can leave that house is if Vidya asks for it ..like she has now ..or the Shivani truth has to be something so big that he realizes that the family’s acceptance of him came from guilt and not any love or large-heartedness !
