Of course Ash married for the Bacchan name because she was being hounded by an abusive ex and was a victim of DV, but pre-marriage, she was a bigger star than Abhishek could ever dream of being. She always, always overshadowed Abhishek.

Ash married Bachchan name to become Bollywood royalty and she secured her place in the industry by playing her cards smartly. She was already very famous but adding Bachchan to her name made her more popular. Being Bachchan Bahu increased her status in Bollywood because even though she was the Miss World once upon a time and a self-proclaimed Global Icon, she's not from a film family and she didn't have the status of Bachchans, Kapoors, Bhatts, Johars, Chopras, Khannas, Khans, Deols, Mukherjees, Samarths, and Oberois.

She led on Vivek Oberoi for 2.5 years because he was an eligible bachelor from a film family. He was also touted as the next Shah Rukh Khan. Ash dropped him as soon as she trapped Abhishek whose father is the biggest fish in Bollywood. Abhishek was the most eligible bachelor in Bollywood from 2000-2007. He had finally started to give hits after his initial flop years. Aish saw that Abhishek was the most eligible guy + he was giving hits and she saw Abhishek as her ticket to Bollywood legacy. Back then, Ash had the reputation for dating guys who were delivering hits and dumping them when they flopped.

Many actresses tried their luck but Ash was successful in becoming Bachchan Bahu because she directly coaxed Amitabh who was more excited to make Ash his Bahurani than Abhishek was to get married to Aishwarya.

Ash should really stop cashing on her perpetual victim drama of being harassed and hounded by abusive ex and her being a victim of DV. That's all a pretense to cover up her dating men for her advantage. The list of her ex's is long but if you're hinting at Salman then it's baloney because Salman didn't contact her after 2003 so the sob story of bechaari Ash forced to marry the son of India's biggest superstar in 2007 just to escape one of her ex-boyfriends who had no contact with her for 4 years is just being a sympathy-seeker which she has always been. If you're hinting at Vivek, then it's sad how she discarded Vivek after she found Abhishek. She two-timed both Vivek and Abhishek and didn't bother to inform Vivek that she broke up with him. When Vivek saw it on the news that Abhi-Ash were a couple, he called Aishwarya. Aish didn't take his call and sent a text "I don't owe you anything!"

Ash used Abhishek just like she used Salman and Vivek.

From 2007-2011, Bachchans were busy pampering and supporting their Bahurani. She was seen more with Amitabh than with Abhishek and she didn't let Jaya stand next to Amitabh. Jaya had a lot of patience for dealing with a daughter-in-law who clearly overstepped the boundaries.

But did she thank them? Did she ever acknowledge their support? Instead of reciprocating their warmth and support, she started saying only her daughter and her parents matter to her. She started calling Rekha Maa in front of Jaya. What's worse is that she has portrayed them as toxic, misogynists, regressive, and patriarchal.

Bachchans didn't get anything by making Ash their Bahurani. They have more wealth and properties than her and they certainly don't need each other's moneys. The only thing Aishwarya could have given to Bachchans were grandchildren and she didn't give them this joy. She kept her daughter to herself and didn't let Bachchans and even the father Abhishek bond with her daughter. She only let her parents bond with Aaradhya. This is the reason Amitabh and Jaya brought their daughter Shweta and her kids to Mumbai and started pampering them.

Now after cashing on the benefits of being a Bachchan for 17 years, she acts like she doesn't need Bachchan surname....just like she says that Salman ruined her career (even though he boosted her dead career by giving her HDDCS) and that Vivek did the press conference for himself and not because she instigated him too.
