Perhaps they want us to discuss Anupamaa's baby steps towards her growth as she answers back at Vanraj ...
Anyway, the sheer stubbornness to not give her character growth has affected other characters as well and as a result the whole story .. Every character is dragged down below her to keep her fixated at the position she was in since day 1 and yet above the other characters..
How can Kinjal, Kavya, and Dimpy show some self-respect when the lead character has none? How can these women walk out of the abusive setup that they are in when the lead character doesn't? How can Shruti walk off from a cheating relationship without attempting to give a negative shade when Anupamaa has still not mentally and emotionally walked out from her previous relationship in which she was cheated on? How can characters like Anuj and Devika be kept logical and dignified when there is no intent to make the lead character receptive to any logic or rationale? In a simplistic story like this, you can only write good parallel storylines when the lead characters are at a secure position and you know that any good arc to another character will not lead to comparisons with the main lead. Lead characters shoulder a greater responsibility of having a moral compass in comparison to others and hence receive more flak as well IMHO. Anupamaa and Anuj both are a shame in the name of the protagonist.
