Moving into old age home isn’t taboo anymore. Neither does it mean that parents are being ill treated by their children. It can be a happy phase if one can look at it through the prism of life.
Exactly. The competitive job market doesn't allow urban adults to spend time with parents anymore and they get lonely. Hence instead of guilt tripping them into sabotaging their careers just so that they get company, they move to old age homes which are either funded by their children or their own pensions. Many Indian cities have set up well equipped old age homes with comfortable room, staff to take care of cooking food as per their needs and cleaning, in-house doctors and tie ups with hospitals in case of emergencies. Most importantly, they have a like-minded crowds in similar age groups so they don't feel lonely.
But our society still sees it as objectionable.
