I am not sure of this story being in any novel But There's a trilogy on kalki written by Kevin Missal , though I don't know if the movie is inspired by it or not

Yes. The movie starts with Kurukshetra last day. Did you also miss the beautiful song sung by Big B depicting the misery of earth through Ashwathama’s eyes all the way until 5000 years in the future from Kurukshetra?
