And what about Hardik Pandya, trolled incessantly during the IPL both personally and professionally, he has come up with arguably the World Cup winning moment by getting Klaasen out. At that stage, South Africa needed 30 off 30 and crucially there was a break in play with Pant receiving attention. That break potentially disrupted South Africa and Klaasen fell next ball, from there, India turned it around dramatically to win from nowhere. Coming back to Pandya, the tears at the end when he sobbed so much showed how much this meant to him. Maybe it was written in the stars that he had to do it for India after all the stuff he had to go through in the last 6 months. He has kept a dignified silence all through that period when it wouldn't have been easy at all. Lesser mortals would have succumbed. Not Hardik. Today is about life coming full circle for him. And then the tears did not stop. Fitting finale for a man who has come clutch at the right time when India needed it most.

Exactly

This is what I have been saying since forever.

Ofcourse, Bumrah too...but I'm guessing Bumrah will continue while I'm unsure of Rohit as well after this.

Also don’t forget Rahul Dravid. The man truly deserved to be a part of a World Cup win.ā¤ļø

What about the reactions in the South African camp? Aiden Markram is trying his best to paint a smiling face. Miller is consoled by his wife who hugs and gives him a kiss on the cheek. A couple of South Africans are still looking shell-shocked. They can't believe how they have let this slip. This will hurt them and scar them mentally for a while - that's for sure. And it won't help them because of their previous history in ICC events. A tough tough pill for every South African to digest.

Axar Patel: It means everything for me. When I came to this WC - last few years I've been getting injured, not getting that performance. I wanted to do something for India. Feeling proud. I tried to keep it simple. Just thought of it as another match. That worked for me. When I went to bat, I didn't think of what'll happen if I get out. Rohit is an amazing captain. He led India very well in this tournament. Rahul [Dravid] bhai asked us to enjoy, not take pressure. I thought I'm going down the order. When we lost three wickets, Rahul bhai suddenly asked me to pad up. Didn't have time to think about batting and it helped me.

More celebration scenes: Pandya is holding an Indian tri-colour flag in his hand as he speaks to Nasser Hussain. Pandya whose equation with Rohit was the talk of the town for the last 6 months sees the Indian skipper come and give him a peck on the cheek. What a moment that is! Pandya and Rohit pose along with Jay Shah with the Indian flag. Rohit with the rain falling holds his little daughter in his arms. Dravid is all smiles as he speaks to Jay Shah. And for a man who never got a hand on a World Cup in his playing career, now bows out with a World Cup win in his final game as coach. To modify the great Sir Alex Ferguson's famous quote a bit: Sport, bloody hell! This is what sport can do to you: bring out emotions that you cannot quantify or believe.
