YRKKH No-Filter zone ||PLEASE VOTE!!|| DT Note Pg.3

Heya folks,

We know it's been a few months since we stopped those frustration threads and banned all Gen 3 talk. So how's that going for you?

We know some of you feel safer here and frankly that's the reason we implemented the ban - since the attacks and reports were getting too much.

But some of you have also felt stifled and robbed of the freedom to speak about your faves as a result of which you've felt alienated & bored in this forum which used to be a favorite hang-out spot for many of you. And we don't want that either.

So here's an idea we've been wanting to try, and this poll is to see how you all feel about it.

The idea is to have a no-rules, no -consequences, no-filter zone for YRKKH every weekend (name TBD).

So how will this work?

1. We will open this special thread every week for an hour on a Friday evening IST to start with. Depending on how well-received it is, we can think about extending this time later.

2. None of the forum rules will apply on this thread. You are free to air out your issues and engage in a full-on debate with the opposing fandom with a few caveats:

A) You can only tag/ quote/ debate with the members who've signed up and agreed to be part of the no-filter zone. Which means everyone else is off limits, including us mods. People can decide after trying it that it's not for them which means they can opt out at any time. This means they're off the tag/quote list and you cannot engage with them from that point on.

B) Don't make any statements/ comments that could lead to legal action being taken against you or the website

C) Don't take the fights anywhere else. What happens in Rome stays in Rome.. erm.. the thread.

3. Members will have the option to sign up to participate in the thread, which means they are willing to engage in it fully and are giving consent to be tagged/ quoted and their comments can be debated on/ challenged. In the same way, members will also have the option to opt out at any time. Which means they cannot be tagged from that point on. We will maintain a list of members that have opted in on the first page.

4. You guys can fight it out. Speak your mind. No filter, no censoring. Tell it like it is. No rules, no consequences. Mods will not act. Which also means no reports emerging on the thread will be actioned (except if they break any of the above rules - A, B or C.)

5. After completion of the stipulated hour, the entire thread will be trashed.

Of course, this is a great idea, would love for this to implemented on this forum. I’m sure we’ll all benefit from this greatly. The kalesh on the forum will also be reduced since members will be able to pour out their frustrations here.

Is it necessary for the thread to be trashed can’t it just be locked instead? What if I want to read it during my spare time?

See, the idea is that those who are interested will engage and participate then and there and then the thread will be removed because keeping it there will only have the potential to trigger more fights and lead to those issues being brought up elsewhere which defeats the purpose of the thread. You will read an inflammatory comment hours after the thread has been locked that will anger you and you might feel compelled to reply in some other thread. Which is what we want to avoid. And for those who don't want to participate at all, the thread staying there will just be triggering because the comments aren't going to be pretty.

But we could think about letting it stay for a limited amount of time - after the thread is locked.
