Both are equally wrong here. Ani's only biggest mistake is he tried to fix her with Rahul otherwise he is not that wrong.

They gave a heartwrenching scene like that varmala scene and 5 mins later he was telling the pandit his shaadi to J was nakli jhoot, and consoling Arshi with marriage in Calcutta. Till they explain his eagerness to marry Arshi whatever the cost - its hard take his grief seriously. Guilt and commitment is not a good enough answer to consciously ruin 3 people's lives.

Till now if 'J loves R' was the trigger - I can understand that somewhat. Now that its gone, it wont be easy to tolerate Ani if he still says he will marry Arshi. i should not think he will, lets see.

Purple 1 - Ani is more unfortunate of the two, J knows she has no family, toh iss jaankari se usse tasalli hai, she does not have to work towards fulfilling her family's expectations !

For Ani, haala ki his family is more Arshi's than his, but he still has this insurmountable load of fulfilling each family members wishes !

Reminds me of his varmala scene where he looks at each of his family member's smiling faces , helplessly, probably hoping against hope , ki koi ek inme se yeh samajh le, ki Ani akhir chahta kya hai ! How heart wrenching to realise you have no one to call your own, no one who understands you !

There was something so heart breaking about that scene - it's etched in my mind forever, toh kabhi makers ne Ani ka character ko butcher kar bhi diya, toh bhi , shayad main koi benefit of doubt dhoondti rahungi iske liye

I have objection on this for two reasons

1) i don't want Consummation before confession and proper shaadi of them

2) bass candle 🕯️ dikha ke Consummation complete Ho Gaya Aisa dikhana i am against of this.

Jhanak can differentiate friendship from love and does not want to fool Rahul by giving false hopes due to her friendship.

Ani cannot differentiate friendship from love and he does not feel guilty lying to his friend Arshi
