We are planning a trip soon, there were many concerns regarding racism against Indians in Korea, I was wondering if it is really as bad as we hear it or just exaggerated by people?

What was your experience there?

Umm..I’ve seen alot of desis going to Korea and they were enjoying there, heard few incidents about racism but that shouldn’t stop you from exploring the beautiful country, Lucky you.

Oh and Mommy can help you as she went there last year I think.

I went to South Korea last year and I loved it. I would go on a yearly basis if I could. In fact, my sister went again this year. The people are friendly and mostly mind their own business. Since my sister and I watched a lot of Korean dramas, we were familiar with the slight bow greeting so we did it to randoms with a smile and they always very happily returned the greeting. I didn’t have any racist experience.

On the contrary, our heads inflated like a balloon with the compliments we received about how big and pretty our eyes were lmao.

You’ll need to download an app to help translate English to Korean. I used Papago. It not only translates but you can also take a photo of something written in Korean and have it translated to English. I also downloaded Naver for the map. It’s more accurate than your phone app.

Don’t assume they can all speak or understand English, especially the Taxi drivers. Most were elderly drivers who couldn’t speak or understand English. The trains are very cheap.

Go to a local CU supermarket and purchase a travel card. Add funds into the card and you can use it for the trains. Also at the airport make sure you buy a Korean sim card. Currency is easy to understand. This photo attached is a total of 11 000 won which I simply understand as like 11 dollars (give or take). That’s the only way I made sense of it lol.

Basically be prepared to enter the K drama world except there’s no English subtitles to help you. smiley36

This is why I love you. Who else would come up with something like this?!

Thanks for sharing your experience so neatly and organized. I'll definitely refer to when I go to South Korea cuz this is really useful.
Especially for someone who doesn’t watch Korean drama or movies to the point of feeling right at home the moment they land. smiley36

Someone who knows no english subtitles will be available at the destination would come up with this list. smiley36

This is why I need two witnesses to confirm that you’re missing out on Lovely Runner. Ladies, please tell Smitten to watch the show. 😭

Oh TM forgot to mention, please don’t get a haircut in Korea. No matter how tempting, just don’t do it. Also do go on the DMZ tour. It was AMAZING! You kinda get to see a bit of North Korea from where you’re standing. It’s a surreal experience.

I have not seen the drama myself😢 i saw his other shows/movie.

Maybe if i know what type of shows she likes then i can recommend. If you end up liking the villain then strong girl nam soon is good. It is anorher drama of Byeon woo seok. I was shipping him with the heroine. Same happened in Vincenzo for me. The glory, Itaewon class have strong female leads. W two worlds apart is a good romantic show.

Movies you can watch The witch part 1, Soulmate.
