Maan was initially amazed but happy

well he gave Geet sound advice

as expected everything went over her head

Maan had a valid point

Maan's anger that she sends money to her family was reasonable

even after cutting her family off, Geet does this

not surprised that he cannot forgive her family

at least Maan was direct with Geet

Geet's comments were justified

of cos she does not hold a grudge against him

nice that Maan assured her

It was almost month and a half since the last met.

And he is going again.

That would mean almost 3 months.

Seems like some important thing is being missed.... But she couldn't put her finger on it.

As planned Maan had to leave, and Geet also completed her all her current project.

She takes a month's break and returns home.

Somewhere subconsciously maybe she wanted a little free time and possibly spend a little bit of it with a certain annoying person.

On returning home, she opens her calendar casually (pretending).

To see what all was happening, when is the next shoot planned in the coming months.

In another 3 months plan some more time off for later festivals.

Maan left at around xx date. So, he should be returning around xx date.

She is doing calculation in her mind.

And today... Today...

She gasps.

She looks at the note added...

Today is her... marriage anniversary...

So, this is what she had been trying to remember but couldn't exactly pin down.

She felt a bit strange... it was her anniversary... and it wasn't like she was a proper married woman... in a sense she was but it's their marriage which wasn't conventional.

Plus, her marriage partner was also missing today…

She felt abrupt and couldn't imagine her mood herself...

So what? it's just a contract marriage... she shouldn't care.

Not like he cared!

She looks at her phone and their absurd chat history.

So much nonsense... And yet ...

Not a single message today.

She knows he said he will be out of touch so of course he can't contact her and maybe... maybe... he doesn't even remember. Even if he does. Most probably he doesn't care...

That's what she tells herself. Trying to justify the uncomfortable feeling...

They both don't care, right?

She doesn't need to feel low or sad or anything.

She should continue her day as it was.

She walks around in circles around her apartment.

Unable to let it go.

She looks around aimlessly for something to do. To occupy her time with.

But she was free.

Stupidly I have taken a month's time off and now I have nothing to do but brood over such absurd matters.

She scolds herself mentally.

She looks at the glaring note in the calendar again.

Why did it feel like she cared... even when she doesn't want to?

Even when no one else (the marriage partner) cares.

She blamed it all on her good friend for saying things related to loving and liking and making stupid conjectures about their relationship and had her almost believe all that.

Not able to calm her mind, she decides that whatever it is. If she is bothered by it, then she needs to face it.

It's a fact it's her marriage anniversary. And she doesn't want to celebrate it (alone).

But the day should be special no matter who is present and who isn’t.

She quickly gets ready and decides to go the temple.

She can pray for good health and maybe meditate a little and find some peace.

She put on simple clothes, hoping she looks inconspicuous.

She is in a white simple chikankari salwar kammez and dupatta.

She goes to a temple she likes.

It's not a very popular temple and not very crowded either.

She can easily sit there and pray and meditate for an hour.

What she didn't realize was that although she tried her best to be anonymous and pray quietly... some person still took her photo and posted it all over social media.

Those who liked her, her fans gave positive replies.

The select few upper class people who believed she was the mistress left scathing non definitive comments of how a person can't be forgiven for their sins no matter how much they pray.... Or saying that it was just a show she is putting up.

Geet didn't know about all this.

She peacefully does her prayers.

Wishing for good health for herself and her relatives (who don't like her) and a certain relative who is not here.

She stays there listening to the pooja/bells/aarti... slowly feeling more and more peaceful and centered.

Spending an hour or so there, she returns home.

On the way, she gets a call from her agent informing her about the latest pics.

But he also tells her not to worry about it. Only some comments were bad. The majority liked her photo and approved of her temple visit.

She replies okay but she couldn't explain to these people that not everything was a publicity move. What she did was for herself and not for showing to others.

She asked her agent if these posts can be taken down.

The agent is surprised, why she wants to take down post that generated good publicity for her.

She tried to explain but ultimately her agent didn't agree, and the post remained as it was.

What she didn't know was that although Maan couldn't contact her, call her, or message her; it was only a one-way information block.

The place where he was at; he can still see the news and access gossip sites. Only sending out any sort of message /signal was strictly prohibited and monitored.

He did remember it was their anniversary and like her, he too thought that maybe the other person doesn't care.

He was sure of it until he saw the gossip posts.

Geet looked so beautiful in a pure simple way.

He could even see her wearing the wedding ring and Kumkum tikka on her forehead.

He didn't know how gently he was smiling while looking at her photos until one of his colleagues pointedly asked him.

C- What are you looking at so happily??!! Did your company share price increase again?

Maan turns off the phone screen.

M - Hmm.. you are right (lies with straight face)

He had thought he could wrap this up sooner and be back by now. Instead, he was stuck here with some old stubborn people who were just enjoying posturing around too much and not coming to an agreement

He regretted it now... really regretted it... He shouldn't have come here in the first place although the benefits are immense but dealing with these people. Most importantly missing out on important life events.

He felt like kicking himself.

All the good mood and peace and calm she had accumulated in temple was half destroyed by her agents call and remaining peace was shattered as soon as she returned to her apartment and saw the two guests waiting outside for her impatiently.

G - Uh Uncle! Aunty! Hello... namaste... please come in.

She quickly opens the door and invited Maan's parents inside.

She was shocked at this totally unexpected visit.

She didn't know where to put her hands and feet and what to say and do next.

Her interaction with them had been minimal and always in Maan's presence….and in his presence nobody jumped around and said too much to her.

Geet acts with nervous courtesy... Asking them to sit offering to make them tea/coffee.

When the parents saw that she went into the kitchen herself to prepare snacks and tea for them instead of calling a maid to do it. They were surprised as hell.

No wonder no one opened the door no matter how much they rang the bell.

There is no helper? What sort of poverty is this woman living in? Doing all these menial tasks herself! It completely destroys the prestige and image of their family!!

Their mentality is a bit elitist

Looking around at the simple furniture... Not finding any tasteful expensive decor... lack of maid... The parents’ expression grew more and more disdainful and snobbish.

When Geet comes out of the kitchen with some tea and snacks, the parents unhappily look at the ordinary tea and some snacks which looked home-made.

They were expecting her to serve them xxx brand or yyy brand premium tea... Or at least some gourmet snacks... Instead, they got this.

Out of politeness they take a sip and then keep the teacup back.

Done with the stiff formalities. Geet sits opposite to them with a straight back.

Her hands folded in her lap.

The mother-in-law looks at around with disappointment and clicks her tongue at her attire.

How can she go out like this? So plain!

And what does she have on her head... mandir se bahar nikal kar wipe off these things.

She gets up and hands Geet several bags big and small.

Mil- We bought few things for you in the passing... you should use them (stiff fake smile)

G - ummm... thankyou... you didn't need to.

Mil giving her look up and down.

Mil- oh no... It's much needed.

Geet bites her lips to stop herself from engaging and quietly accepted the bags.
