I rarely get time to meet/talk to extended family. Jo pyar se mile usko gale lagao, jo na mil sake i assume they must be busy with other things. I made the mistake of marrying from my ancestral home as per my late grandmother's wish. that opened can of long running family politics and also someone was angry my parents didn't considered rishta from their family side completely oblivious to fact that it was a love match not arranged one, so my parents never had a say in my choice of life partner.
