When Anirudh spoke truth it was bitter than lies for all. Everything in his life relates to Jhanak at the moment .Jhanak doesnt like to lie , and so he spoke truth . First time he is feeling uneasy to lie . His lies can hurt Jhanak .

He was only scared if any of his words would hurt Jhanak as they just had some beautiful moments and didnt want her to feel it was all fake .

Anirudh lacked confidence today ,an inner sense of guilt or may be he didnt want to spoil his memories by arguing with asylum wasis .They knew they will be grilled , still he didnt come up easily with stories. He didnt want to speak lies today I guess .
The roads leading to Basu asylum itself is toxic I guess ....they started from car itself .

Yes, this Anirudh is so good to watch when he did not lie. and for whom. It was for Jhanak that he did not lie. It was so clear, he kept her above everyone and above himself today. The love has hit him and he knows it and when things are so clear, a person becomes free of any fear and that has happened to Ani. He is not scared of what Arshi will feel. He doesn't actually care what she feels and girl!!! how much in a clear way will he tell you that you are out of his heart and he is just marrying you because he has given his words.
But just as Arshi said to all, she knows Ani will be happy if she break this tie and he will not take a second to be there with Jhanak, so she will not free him. She will not let him have his freedom with Jhanak. She will drag herself in this relation, very well knowing Ani does not love her but will never free him.
It is Ani who will have to break this tie.
Contrary to how he cleared Arshi that he does not love her, similarly he also cleared to Jhanak that she is world to him. What the bold that you have highlighted .. wonderful confession
