Me likes it damn straight!
So, guys let's just take the plunge in to JandA world …
(It is to be assumed that A has got his divorce from Mal and J her freedom from R. But by a cruel twist of fate, neither is aware that finally their union is round the corner. With a heavy heart, both A and J are gone to Goa on a miserable business trip. Let's just hope that the end of this trip doesn't see them more miserable than they are now…but life being so unfair…)
It was a warm morning. Jassi, dressed in a faded pink Punjabi suit, her hair lying limp about her shoulders, face devoid of any make-up, eyes red and arms folded across her chest, stared at the waves aimlessly thrashing at the rocks.
(You can hear a soft melancholic tune in the background)
None could say that behind the hard rigidly set mouth and expressionless face, Jassi was reliving every passionate moment she had shared with her Armaan sir and wondering if she had any rights over the memories even....
After some time Jassi sighed and looked at her watch "Oh God! Mr. Sen mera intezaar kar rahe honge. Mujhe jaana hoga. Taiyyar bhi tho hona hai.'
As she was about to gather her bag from the ground, she heard feet plodding the ground behind her.
Jassi stiffened. Her heart seemed to have stopped beating. The footsteps seemed to be familiar…maddeningly familiar 'Kya ye ho saktha hai ki..?...nahin!'
She stood rooted to the ground as the footsteps grew nearer and nearer…
Plod…plod…plod…
Jassi kept clenching and unclenching her clammy hands as the familiar, maddeningly familiar footsteps grew nearer…. her heart beating like a mill train.
Neareer..nearer..nearer…
Jassi's breathing became shallow. She felt she would choke…
Plod…plod…
The footsteps seemed to have stopped.
Jassi looked around her. Nobody! Just an empty sea!
She heaved a sigh of relief 'Shaayad main sapna dekh rahi thi. Armaan yahaan kaise ho sakthe hain'. She smiled at her foolishness.
Suddenly, a hand wound around her waist and Jassi let out a shriek. She tried to free herself in vain.
"Jassi".
Jassi tried to fight back the panic and anxiety that was building inside her. She clutched her heart as if scared it would fall out. Her strained face was evidence of a teetering hysteria building inside her.
She thought desperately 'Nahin…nahin…aisa nahin ho sakta. Ye Armaan nahin ho sakte…nahin nahin..Babaji…Please ye sapna ho…main Armaan ko aur nahin…Please Babaji…. nahin. Armaan nahin. Unhain kaise patha hoga ki main yahaan hoon…Lekin ye unhi ki awaaz hai…'
"Jassi" His grip around her waist tightened. She felt his breath warm the back of her neck. He gently stroked her hair and patted her cheeks.
Jassi stood there paralyzed when he suddenly spun her around, and whispered huskily "I love you Jassi."
Jassi gasped and started shivering uncontrollably 'Nahin..nahin…'
"Armaan!" She shrieked and turned around to face the empty sea, the thrashing waves and the lone palm trees mocking at her.
Drained, Jassi sank to the ground and clutching her head in her hands, wept softly.
"Jassi"
Jassi gasped and turned around.
Nothing! Nobody!
She looked at the cerulean sky and screamed piteously "Armaan! Mujhe akela kyon nahin chod dete. Please Armaan. Mujhe chain se jeene do…."
Amidst sobs, she whispered "Mujhe chain se jeene do Armaan…chain se jeene do…"
**********
Armaan stared at the reflection of a ghost staring back at him. The hallow cheeks, sunken eyes, disheveled hair…he hardly knew himself. He sighed and thought 'Jab se tum meri zindagi se chali gayi ho Jassi, meri manzil kho gayi.'
He shrugged his shoulders with resignation and started to set his hair when he heard it "Armaan Sir"
He spun one eighty degrees.
Nothing!
Shaking his head sadly, he left for his meeting, dressed in a Black suit and White turtleneck.
************
"Damn". Armaan glared at the rotund Mr Sen, quailing under his ferocious gaze "Aise kaise ho saktha hai, Mr.Sen? Aapne ye deal Karishma ko kaise de di?"
A lesser man would have fled the place in a hurry but Mr.Sen stood his ground and attempting to regain what ever was left of his courage and dignity said in a pacifying tone: "Mr.Suri, main aapki naarazgi samajh saktha hoon lekin Miss WALIA ka kaam hamein zyada pasand aaya. Actually, unhon ne tho…"
Mr.Sen prattled on excitedly about how Karishma had impressed him but Armaan didn't hear a word more. A chill passed down his spine. He brushed aside Mr.Sen with a curt nod, dashed out of the restaurant in to the approaching night and within five minutes had got the information he had wanted.
(Ni main shagan manava tune but a sad one playing in the background)
Armaan walked like a dead man. He felt incredulous 'Jassi Karishma ki owner hai? Usne Karishma ko Gulmohur ke saamne khada kiya tha? Woh Gulmohur ko…mujhe barbaad karna chahthi hai?'
His mind goes back in time and he sees an ugly, bespectacled but obedient Jassi…his Jassi holding his hands and promising him "Armaan Sir, main aapse vaada karti hoon ki main hamesha aapka saath doongi. Gulmohur ko sabse aage pahunchaaneme main aapki madath karoogi.Armaan Sir…"
Other memories flash past him
Their several hugs, the marriage fiasco, the Amritsar trip, Jassi telling him she hates him…
A spasm of pain passes across his face and tears stumble from his eyes as he thinks to himself 'Tho Jassi, ab tumne mera pyaar apne dil se nikaal hi diya. Ab sab kuch khatham ho gaya. Tum mujhe barbaad karna chaahthi ho…shaayad main isi laayak hoon lekin tum nahin jaanthi ki tumhaare bina main kabka barbaad ho chuka…main sirf tumhaari khushi chahtha hoon Jassi...agar tumhaari khushi mujhe barbad karneme hain tho, woh hi sahi...tho kya Jassi mujhse nafrat karti hai?'
The thought that Jassi had nothing but hatred for him sent his head reeling in pain.
His heart beat painfully within him and his salty tears seemed to want to gore in to his eyes to burn them.
The whole world seemed to be clouded in a thick hazy smoke. It was over. Even the little hope that he had half-heartedly nurtured about his getting Jassi back had gone down the drain. Yet again Jassi had gone…Gone…forever…He had lost the love of his life…his life...his everything…
'Oh Jassi! Jassi… meri…Jassi…'
The loss became unbearable. His mouth suddenly went abominably dry and gory images invaded his senses. He needed a drink badly. He dragged his heavy legs to the nearest bar….
Jassi dropped the sea shell mantle piece she had just purchased 'Main kya sapna dekh rahi thi ya phir woh waake hi Armaan the?'
Cutting short the vendor's horror at the broken piece, she stuffed his hands with money and rushed to follow that back she knew so well.
********
When an out of breath Jassi stepped in to the filthy 'Vasco da gama' bar, that smelt of cheap perfume and smoke and sweat, she knew she had made a huge mistake. Armaan would never visit such a place and yet the retreating back had been so much like his…
She looked around but found Armaan nowhere.. The lewd glances and vulgar passes thrown at her from all around unsettled her. Suddenly, she felt her Black Chiffon sari too transparent and the neckline of her clingy blouse too low. She draped her sari around her shoulders and looked around again.
She felt foolish and slightly angry with herself 'Main yahaan kyon chali aayi. Woh Armaan nahin the. Agar Armaan the bhi tho mujhe kya, ab unse mera koi lena dene nahin.'
She hated to accept that the last statement was untrue. With one last look, she turned to leave when she heard an urgent whisper just behind her "Jassi"
Jassi simply lost her head. There was no other explanation for her bolting out of the bar, without so much as even a backward glance.
She continued running like a mad woman, without any rhyme or reason, in to the black night, down a dark, deserted alley, knowing where not, when his commanding voice arrested her "Ruk jaao Jassi!"
Jassi wanted to ignore that command and run away but her legs refused to co-operate. She felt as if every muscle, every bone in her body had become a slave of Armaan's bespoken will. She might as well have been a rock.
It seemed it would take forever before Armaan approached her. She just stood there like a chained prisoner waiting for his death sentence. Her hands were wet and soggy. Her lips were parched. Her eyes darted uncertain glances in his direction.
She felt herself a bundle of nerves as Armaan slowly proceeded towards her with his characteristic pompous gait.
Jassi swallowed hard when he was suddenly in front of her.
But one look at his weary face and Jassi couldn't believe what she saw 'Ye Armaan hain? Apnaa kya haal bana rakha hai! Armaan..ye kya ho gaya aapko? Mera Armaan…Armaan…'
"Aage area teekh nahin hain Jassi. Mere saath aao. Main tumhein tumhare hotel tak pahunchaa deta hoon." Armaan said in his softest of tones.
Jassi simply stared at him. Finding him so close to her again, she felt a surge of conflicting emotions overtake her 'Kyon? Aaj bhi main Armaan ke liye woh sab kyon mehsoos karti hoon jo Jassi kiya karthi thi? Itna sab kuch hone ke baavjoodh, main kyon apne aap ko sambhaal nahin paa rahi? Kyon? Kyon Armaan? Main aaj bhi tumse kyon pyar karti hoon?'
Armaan broke her reverie "Jassi? Main tumhain tumhaare Hotel tak chhod deta hoon."
Jassi came back to her senses at the sound of his voice. "Main aapke saath kahin nahin jaaungi, Mr.Armaan Suri. Main aage hi jaaungi. Goodnight." She spat.
Armaan looked at her, surprised at her tone "Jassi? Aage jaana safe nahin hain .Raat bhi bahut ho chuki hain. Chalo Jassi."
"Nahin" She screamed. "You mind your business Mr.Suri. Main aage hi jaaungi aur woh bhi akeli!"
He sighed 'Jassi, tum bilkul nahin badli. Hamesha se hi ziddi thi…'
With a wry smile, he suddenly plucked her from the ground and with a powerful movement carried her up in his arms triumphantly.
But the next moment, Armaan's arms sagged under her weight and he grimaced "Jassi, Bebe ne abhi tak desi ghee ke paranthe khilaana bandh nahin kiya? Meri kamar aaj zaroor tutegi!"
Armaan and Jassi stared at each other and then exploded in to laughter. He put her on the ground as both of them clutched their sides and laughed insanely.
After some time, still smiling, they stared in to each others' eyes. As Jassi was about to utter something, the skies went berserk and rained cold water droplets by the hundreds.
Armaan laughingly grabbed her by the hand and led her under the nearest shelter.
He innocently turned his chocolate brown eyes on her and she groaned inwardly. She had long since come to the conclusion that those eyes knew black magic. How else would you account for the effect they had on her, that sucked her in to deliciously intense passions, weaved by his potent charisma?
(Thunder sounds in the background)
Jassi avoided his eyes but felt a raw sensual awareness steal between them and taste her skin. At last compelled by the electricity in the air, she looked up at him hesitantly and he smiled.
Jassi groaned again and cursed his dimpled smile that converted her in to less than Strawberry crush.
Jassi moved away, her numbed brain furiously thinking up ways…ways for what?
As she was about to step out of the shelter, he caught the Pallu of her Sari and slowly pulled her towards him.
(An sensuous soft melody may be heard in the background)
Jassi had no choice. He had branded every bone and muscle of her body as his exclusive property.
Her defeated brain put in a last brave fight "Jassi, tu itni kamzor nahin. Is insaan ne tumhain dukh ke alavaaa aur kuch nahin diya'
As if in retaliation, her heart screamed even louder "Jassi, isi insaan ne tumhain aurat hone ka ehsaas kiya hai. Jassi, tum apne Armaan sir ko kaise chod sakthi ho? Jassi, tumne hamesha Armaan Sir se hi pyaar kiya hai…"
'That is true.' Jassi thought. 'It was always Armaan Sir ever since she could remember. From that first meeting at Gulmohur and she had known that she could never love anybody else. Never! Never…'
Jassi found Armaan's face very close to hers…
An Avalanche of delicious memories spread through her body like warmed honey, at his touch. Her every muscle seemed to quiver with a mindless trepidation and anticipation. She felt an unbelievable thrill grip her very being.
Her traitorous heart smothered out every ounce of reason that her jaded brain tried to dish out and danced with delight. She was a woman and the woman in her was going to have its say today.
He slowly turned her around to face him. Jassi could see that Armaan was more or less in the same boat.
His face burning, heart beating madly, he hardened with desire.
Her face flushed and breaths coming out in hot gasps, she crumbled with desire.
He whispered familiar sweet nothings in to her ears as her caressed her face, her eyes, her forehead, her chin, her cheeks, her nose…
Finally he reached for her lips. He planted firm butterfly kisses on them and whispering "Jassi", he suddenly withdrew himself away from her.
Jassi stared at him.
He quietly spread his arms in a silent gesture.
Primal passions engulfed her and Jassi fled in to his outspread arms.
Their fiery bodies united in a fiery embrace, each striving to satisfy its pent up hunger of so long ago…and so long deserved….
Ablaze their bodies writhed. Their mouths spoke their own language. The old forgotten spark had re-kindled
Reason had been ousted out like an unwelcome guest.
They had each carried away the best in each other when they had foolishly allowed themselves to be manipulated by the outside world. They were realizing that now and nothing would induce them to commit their mistakes again……..
As Armaan laid her on the ground, its hardness and the coldness acted like cold water on a blazing fire.
Jassi's eyelids flew open in horror and she got up and stared at Armaan, who looked at her quizzically.
"Babaji! Babaji! Ye main kya kar rahi thi!."
"Jassi?"
"Mere paas mat aao Armaan!" Jassi put her hand on her mouth, shocked at her own shallowness and lack of self-control.
"Jassi? Tum teekh tho ho? Jassi, please! Kuch tho kaho?" Armaan pleaded.
Jassi glared at him ""I'm amazed at you, Mr. Armaan Suri. Besharmi ki bhi hadh hoti hai! Aap shaayad bhool gaye hain lekin main nahin bhooli ki aap shaadi shudha hain!"
A deep regret and pain filled Armaan's eyes as he said in a choked voice "Jab maine Mallika se shaadi ki, tab main bhool gaya ki main shadi shudha hoon…ki maine kisi ke saath, saath phere liye the, janmon janmon tak saath nibhaane ka vaada kiya tha…kisi ke maangme Sindoor bhara tha…"
"Main bhool gaya tha Jassi. Main bhool gaya tha. Aur usi ki keemat aaj tak chukka raha hoon…"
Jassi melted at his heart wrenching tone but she was not going to yield to him ever again 'Kabhi Nahin!' And if she ever hoped to keep up her resolve, the sooner she got out of here, the better.
"Main apne Hotelme vaapas jaana chaahthi hoon Armaan. " She said acidly.
Armaan nodded and said softly "Jassi main sirf itns kehna chaahunga ki mujhe apni galtiyon ka ehsaas hain. Maine socha tha ki kames kam Mallika ke saath insaaf karoonga lekin Mallika us laayak thi hi nahin. Usne, Aaryan aur Perbatlal ke saath tumhain Nainitaalme Shastri murder caseme phasaane ki koshish ki.."
Jassi gasped.
He continued "Usne pregnancy ka bhi naatak kiya tha. Actually, hamaare beech kuch tha hi nahin. kaise ho saktha tha…"
He looked at Jassi meaningfully and whispered "Pyaar tho main tumse kartha hoon. Is liye maine Mallika ko talaak de diya. Main sirf tumse pyaar kartha hoon Jassi.."
The word 'Pyar' seemed to inflame Jassi. The pain of the past that she had believed herself to be immune to, surfaced without warning and twisted her heart painfully.
Mortification, humiliation and finally anger succeeded the pain.
(An intense music plays for a background)
"PYAAR" She screamed! "Pyaar ki baatein tumhaare moohse achchi nahin lagthi Armaan! Tum mujhse pyaar karte ho! Kahaan tha tumhaara pyaar jab hamaare shaadi ke do ghnate pehle tumne mujh pe woh ghinoni ilzaam lagaayaa tha? Kahaan tha tumhaara pyaar jab bina kuch soche tumne meri jagah Mallika ko de di?"
Armaan stared at the ground and winced at her every word.
Jassi continued fiercely "Tumhain kya patha pyar ka matlab! Jab bhi main tumhain Mallika ke saath socthi, tho mar mar ke uth thi..phir se marne ke liye.."
"Jassi..please tum…"
"Pyaar! Kuch din pehle main us caseme phas gayi thi. Tab kahaan tha tumhaara pyar?"
Unable to contain himself, Armaan screamed back "Tum aaj azad ho, us case se bach gayi ho tho mere wajah se. Maine hi us famous lawyer, Nirupa Beg ko tumhaare case ladne ke liye raazi kiya tha! Woh inspector bhi mera bahut achcha dost hai, jisne mere kehne par tumhaare case par aur dhyaan diya! Jassi, main hamesha tumhaare saath tha, hoon aur rahoonga! Ab saari duniya ko patha chal gayi hai ki Raghav Oberoi ke saath tumhaara koi sambandh nahin hain. Is liye maine socha ki..socha ki.." Armaan bit his lip as he realized that he had wounded Jassi's pride beyond remedy.
The wounded tigress screamed "Socha ki tum mera faayda uthaoge! Tumhain laga ki tum meri madath karoge, tho main tumhaare baahonme bhaagi chali aaungi?"
(More sobs)
She beat his chest with her fists and screamed hysterically "Armaan, tumne mujhe, mere pyar ko kabhi nahin samjha! Kabhi Armaan Sir banke mere feelings ke saath khilwaad kiya tho kabhi mere dil ka Armaan banke, mujhe jalaa dala...main poori tarah barbaad ho chuki Armaan. Ab tho mujhe chain se jeene do?"
Jassi sank to the ground and sobbed uncontrollably.
Armaan felt like a worm. He wished the earth to swallow him whole 'Maine apni Jassi ko maar dala. Meri Jassi aaj itni takleefme hain tho sirf mere wajah se…kaash main paida hothe hi mar gaya hota!'
If he had had a gun, he would have shot himself then and there. His heart nearly choked him as he watched the woman he loved more than his life, in so much pain, all because of his sick jealous nature…Damn him!
He grappled the sobbing figure and hugged her "Jassi! Bas Jassi, Bas! Main ab tumhain kabhi nahin sathaaunga. Kabhi nahin. Main India chodke chala jaaunga. Lekin ab mere saath chalo. Paas hi mera ghar hain. Baarish bahut tez ho chuki. Please Jassi."
Jassi stooped sobbing and looked at him. For a stray second, their eyes locked with each other but the spell was broken by the thunder.
Wordlessly, she followed him to his Villa, which he had leased for a few months, to enjoy a quiet holiday.
A much calmer Jassi was shown in to a room upstairs where she took a hot shower and slipped in to the only dress that fitted her; a Black bath robe.
She crept downstairs and surveyed the old fashioned drawing room with interest. She saw that the room suited its owner to the hilt. The old world charm strangely befitted Armaan Suri.
She squealed with delight as she perceived the fire-place, stocked with dry firewood. She felt like the princess of an enchanted castle. Her spirits suddenly up; she hunted for matchsticks, in vain. Shrugging, she huddled herself in the corner of the large old-fashioned hall.
Moments later Armaan walked in, oblivious of her presence.
One look at him and Jassi nearly chewed her teeth.
He looked like a Greek god. The weariness had disappeared like magic. A soft smile hovered over his lips. He hummed an old melody as he extracted a Dark Blue tank top from one of the drawers of the mantle shelf and eased himself in to it.
Jassi felt her breath catch.
Still oblivious of her, he easily opened another drawer and extracted a Cigarette case and a lighter,
"Tho ab aap luchche lafongon ki tarah beedi bhi peene lage hain! Kya ye kaafi nahin tha ki aap sharaabi hain?" She demanded.
Armaan dropped the things in shock. When he perceived her hiding place, he smiled slowly. Jassi felt mesmerized.
Sensing her confusion, Armaan threw back his head and laughed and that one gesture melted J completely. She knew then that her life was meaningless without him, incomplete blas…she loved him…wanted him…Armaan smiled salaciously and said softly "Jassi, ye beedi nahin cigarettes hain! Aur mujhe sharaabi banaane ka shrey tho meri ex-assistant ko jaata hain!"
Seeing Jassi's face, Armaan amended hastily "Jassi, ye mere nahin hain. Bas aag jalaane ke liye lighter ki zaroorat padi."
Flashing another dazzling smile at her, that managed to scatter her wits completely, Armaan set out to light the fire in the grate.
As the fire crackled, Jassi slowly felt every inch of her body on fire, the fire spreading through her, burning every hurt, every bad memory, strengthening the love she had shared with him, giving shape to the desires she nurtured for him…His sensuous spell urged her No commanded her to get lost in the memories of a passionate past "Armaan…' her heart whispered 'Mera Armaan..'
Her mind speeded back to a musty cabin filled with red roses and the air thick with their love....'Armaan...'
She fought back the tears that engulfed her...
Armaan sat beside the fireplace and stole glances at Jassi.
In an instant, he was back in to a musty cabin filled with red Valentine roses and the air thick with their love…That was the first time he had realized the intensity of his love for Jassi…If only he could turn the clock back…somehow…anyhow…
Back to the present, Armaan felt like kicking himself for not grabbing her then and there and making her his own.
He looked at Jassi in front of him. He had hurt her, wounded her, scarred her irreparably…and yet he wanted a chance to set all that right…How he longed to take her in his arms and caress all the hurt away…'Kya Jassi mujhe ek mauka degi? Sirf ek?'
(A romantic soft instrumental in the background)
"Jassi" he whispered, as he deposited himself next to her.
"Jassi. Main jaanta hoon main is laayak nahin lekin..kya tum mujhe ek mauka nahin de sakthi? Kya hum sab kuch bhula kae phir se ek nayi zindagi nahin shuru kar sakthe?"
Jassi looked away, scared to be drawn in to his sensuous spell again.
Armaan gently took her face in his hands and caressing it, whispered "Jassi! I love you Jassi! Please mujhe…hamaare pyaar ko ek mauka do. Main vaada kartha hoon ki main har dard, har ghaav bhar doonga..tumhaari jholi khushiyon se bhar doonga Tum mujhse pyaar karti hona Jassi? Please?"
Jassi slowly looked at him and Armaan saw her eyes shining with tears "Armaan…maine hamesha sirf tumse pyar kiya hain..tum jaanthe ho... lekin.."
Armaan silenced her with a finger "Jassi…kuch mat kaho. Ab hamaari zindagime 'lekin' aur 'shayad' ke liye koi jagah nahin hain!"
He dried her tears with his lips and pushing her wet hair away from her face, kissed her softly…"Jaspal…"
Jassi cut in "Jasmeet, Sir!"
(He he he in the background)
"Jasmeet…mujhse…shaadi…karogi…?"
His last words were punctuated by light kisses.
Jassi pushed him away and with mock anger said "Aapko sharam nahin aathi! Main shadishuda hoon! Mere pati ne mujhe aapke saath dekh liya, tho aapki khair nahin!"
"Hmmm..Tho hum aapke patidev ko aapke Papaji ke paas bhej dete hain!"
Both of them laughed and Armaan gathered her in to his arms and Jassi got enveloped by his masculine fragrance. They lay cuddled in each others' arms, at peace with each other, smilingl and their eyes doing all the talking. An odd inner glow stole through her and she somehow knew that this time everything would go right…
Jassi spent the reminder of the night in her Armaan Sir's arms.
Saying nothing, doing nothing…just happy and content in the knowledge that finally, she had caught hold of the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow…with both hands…
*******
Sarah Intercontinental was all geared up for the Valentine's Day. The main dining area was decorated with tiny red hearts and red heart shaped balloons.
(A happy romantic tune in the background)
As Mr. and Mrs. Armaan Suri strode in, Jassi felt ridiculously nervous. She clutched at her husband who smiled at her reassuringly. The maitre d'hotel materialized from nowhere and showed them their seats.
As they waited for their order, Armaan, himself looking charming and desirable in a White suit and Red shirt, gazed at his lovely wife, who looked ravishing in a Red crepe Saree and Silver Jewellery and observed to her that every man about them would have gladly exchanged places with him.
His wife pointed out that the ladies were as anxious to exchange places with her.
Half an hour later, after sipping aperitifs, Armaan suddenly went on his knees and declared, while extending a tastefully packaged gift towards her "Jassi, My love! Happy Anniversary! Is naacheez ki ye ek chhota sa tohfa kabool kijiye aur vaada kariye ki aap har janamme meri patni banengi!"
His wife blushed like a Red Rose and whispered hurriedly "Armaan! Ye kya kar rahe ho! Sab dekh rahen hain! utho! Please!"
He grinned wickedly at her and continued, aware that everyone had stopped eating and were looking on at them with interest "Jassi pehle vaada karo!"
She fixed him with a steely glare but she knew it was no use! Her husband was impossible. She humored him and was amply rewarded with an exquisite crystal Brooch, which she slipped on immediately.
But apparently, the day's surprises were not yet over.
As they were finishing their main course, Armaan fished out a file from underneath his coat and handed it to Jassi casually.
"Ye kya hai Armaan?"
"Doctor ke reports!"
It took her a while to register the fact that next year, by this time, they would be proud parents'.
Armaan wiped the tears of happiness from his wife's face and whispered hoarsely "Thank you Jassi! I love you!"
They held hands for a long time, savoring and reveling in their happiness when Mr Suri expressed his desire to celebrate their happiness by dancing.
"Armaan! Mujhe aaj bhi dance karna nahin aata! Please Armaan!"
"Jassi, main hoon na! Come on Jassi. Let's celebrate!" and with that he gently led her on to the dance floor.
Jassi, initially scared, gained confidence with her husband's aid and within minutes was at her ease.
They waltzed around gracefully and became a whirling centerpiece of the dance area and the cynosure of every eye.
Jassi's heart beat wildly with a mindless passion and she felt her cheeks on fire. As Armaan gazed at her with smoldering eyes and flashed a seductive smile at her, she felt her knees go weak.
He winked at her and Jassi admonished herself and wondered for the umpteenth time, when she would stop reacting like a star struck teenager, every time she found herself in her husband's bewitching presence.
Jassi smiled inwardly and with a sigh answered her own question, even as her husband's arms tightened against her and swirled her all over the dance floor 'Never!'
