Part 40
Tremendous update…. wondrously written
well Geet agreed to the new contract
of cos Geet cannot help bit think of Maan
ahh she thought how she berated Maan in the car
so she felt that she said too much to Maan
Geet's thoughts well portrayed
sad that she doubted that Maa would break his promise
as expected she is anxious and missing his calls and messages
now she feels conflicted
her confused was reasonable
oh they have not talked for more than a month
what she wanted from the beginning is happening
however she is unhappy
loved that she is missing Maan
hmm she decided to make Maan a cake
its just an excuse to speak to him
at least Maan responded
Gosh she missed his bday
she indeed feels guilty
glad that she wished him
not surprised that he knows she is covering up
pleased that Maan is going to meet her as per her request
wow she wants to impress him
seems like she does have some feeling for Maan
update soon
Beautiful updates .
Geet had always made it clear from her side that this was just an arrangement, not a real relationship. But now she feels different. She wants to try to do something for him and get to know things about him.
He accepted the offer to come over. He knows perfectly well she didn't know about his birthday. But he is trying from his side too.

Part 41
She agonizes over what to wear.
She didn't want to look desperate, neither like this was a booty call.
But she didn't want to look indifferent either.
In the end she chooses to wear jeans and a pretty top.

Maan also calls and informs his assistant that he is leaving.
Assistant - Leaving for the day Sir?
M- yes... what to do... my wife wants to celebrate my birthday, now that she is back...
The assistant smiles and nods as if this is how things should be naturally.
Assistant - But Sir, what about the 5pm meeting? We can't postpone it.
M- Can't be postponed? Then do I have to attend?
Assistant - You have to attend without fail.
M-…Alright pack up my laptop and other necessary things. I'll attend remotely.
Assistant - From Madam's place? Will she be ok with it?
Maan quickly messages Geet to confirm.
She says it is okay with her.
+++++
Maan arrives at her place soon enough and rings the bell.
Geet invites him inside.
He walks in treating the place like his second home.
Completely at ease.
Seeing his easy-going expression, Geet feels as if a stone had been lifted from her heart.
She lights up a candle and hands him the knife and even sings 2 lines of happy birthday out of ceremony.
Maan happily blows out the candle and cuts the cake.
He offers her a bite first.
She eats a small nibble.
After all she was in the middle of shooting and had to strictly watch her weight.
Maan finishes the rest of the slice in a few bites.
He complements her baking skills and felt the cake suited very much to his palate.
After eating it he was certain that she had made this herself.
While she watched him eat... it suddenly clicked in her mind...
Last year this time she was devoting all her energies into the catering business.
After successfully catering a dinner party she had come across Maan that night.
He had been dead drunk that time. Barely able to stand and he toppled over her, and she had to bring him home out of pity.
Wasn't that the same date?
Was that... his birthday party that day?
Why was he drunk and alone at the end of his birthday party?
But thinking how his family is... it didn't seem all that impossible for him to be alone...
But what about his friends...
Come to think of it... what about his friends? Where are they? Do they even exist?
Geet rests her chin on her hand as she thinks widely and spaces out while looking at him.
Eventually, Maan notices her gazing blankly at him.
He consciously wipes his lips and face clean.
He had been eating a bit too happily with full gusto and might have got some bits on his face.
But it didn't seem like she was looking at him due to that.
He put down his fork and imitates her pose.
Resting his chin on his hand and leaning on the table facing Geet.
M - Do I look handsome?
She nods in a daze not really thinking.
She was still lost in the memories of last year’s events.
M - How handsome?
G – Very.
M - Just very?
Geet still talked to him in a daze.
M - Mrs. Geetanjali Khurana, don’t flirt with me so much.
Geet instantly snapped out of it and realizes what she had just confessed.
Feeling embarrassed she gets up and goes to the kitchen.
Talking to him with her back turned as if nothing happened.
G - So did you celebrate with your friends this year? I didn't see any news of a birthday celebration…it's okay if it was a private event you don't have to tell me.
She didn't want to know if his birthday party had turned into a bachelor party.
She didn’t get a reply for him for a few long moments.
She turns to look at him.
His eyes are directly gazing at her.
This is not that mischievous look.
He has an unreadable expression where his eyes are directly on her, and his gaze is fixed.
Her whole body pauses for a moment.
He finally speaks barely moving his lips his eyes still fixed on hers.
M- Do you want to meet my friends?
His tone was also unreadable.
She is unable to gauge the expression behind his words.
She gulps.
Takes a moment to form a sentence.
G- Would you like me to meet them?
M- Everyone brings along their families or kids or even pets.
G - So I am going there as your pet?
M – Nonsense! As my wife off course.
He clicks his tongue and revival of emotions on his face brings back a smile on Geet’s face as well.
He looks familiar again.
G - Okay…. I’ll go if you want me to go.
Geet starts boiling water
G- Maan, tum….Aap…tum…emmm…have you drunk floral tea before?
She realizes she had never really addressed him so switches back to English where she does not have to specifically ponder about that.
His lips turn to hide a sly smile.
M- Nahi, maine floral tea try nahi kari hai. Par try kar sakta hoon.
She nods.
G- Okay
M- Tum bhi piyogi?
G- Ye- Haan
M- Mujhe Aap kehne ki zarurat nahi hai. Aur ye koi English medium school nahi hai ye…so don’t restrict my creative hindi slangs.
She smiles.
G- Mujhe laga aap comfortable nahi honge….
She stops midway seeing Maan’s unspoken prompt for saying ‘Tum’
G- Tum comfortable nahi hoge hindi bolne mein
She rectifies her sentence.
M- Kyun?
G- emm….woh….emmm….
She doesn’t know how to verbalize it.
He is still looking at her curiously for an answer.
G- Aap bade sheher ke….bade log ho…I mean…ultra rich…hi-fy type…woh star kids type…
Maan bursts out laughing.
Geet also smiles seeing him laugh.
Looking at the atmosphere getting lighter; Geet also gathers her courage, but she still speaks with her back turned towards him while looking at the boiling water for the tea
G - I am sorry about last time. I said a bit too much.
M - It's okay. You were mostly right.
Lovely part 😀
