Dr Manmohan Singh retires from Rajya Sabha, thereby making it the official end of his political career.

#ManmohanSingh the man who devoted his entire life working for the country without the due appreciation.

- Initiated economic reforms in 1991.

- Pulled India out of recession.

- Secured the Indo-U.S. Civil Nuclear Deal.

- Achieved consistent GDP growth above 7%.

- Increased funding for education and healthcare.

- Launched the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA).

- Invested in infrastructure development.

- Strengthened India's foreign relations.

- Promoted science and technology.

- Implemented financial sector reforms.

- Addressed social inequalities through reservations.

- Implemented social welfare programs to reduce poverty.

In return, always got humiliated by the opposition, people called him robot, silent PM and what not, today like he always said , History is judging him wisely.

One of India's finest Prime Ministers, We love you Dr MMS ♥️

Happy retirement, sir.

I have nothing against him. But him being propelled as great economist - is contestable.

PV Rao opened the markets in India. That guy was pioneer of modern Indian economics.

Dr. Singh also has these stats.

I had forgotten that he was still alive, let alone a member of the Rajya Sabha

Incidentally, the credit that he gets for the reforms in 1991 when he transformed from a bureaucrat to a politician actually belonged to PVNR. After all, he was a socialist bureaucrat, and socialist bureaucrats don't magically transform overnight into free-market economic-liberals. After his first 2 budgets, he was lauded, but looking back, there is no way that could have happened w/o directives from PVNR. Note that during that time, Sonia was still a grieving widow, so was unlikely to have had much input into policy

Oh, and it was also under his watch that not only did 26/11 happen, but it was dealt w/ pretty ineptly by his govt after it happened

He's owned this site since 2008, iirc. If he is Sanghi, it was a very well kept secret, certainly during that time. Even after 2014, IF has always seemed more secular than Sanghi. I've seen some pro-🕉 people mention that they came here pretty apprehensively in the Ram temple thread, not knowing whether it would be welcomed or denounced. In fact, I've been a participant in several show forums, and there was always a good number of seculars & muslims. I doubt they'd have come had they thought it to be a "communal" site
