He is a legend too his ek baar kahi tum.meri ho from late 90's remains a cult classic .changed the music scene back then he was a bloody big deal and then his kam ost og wala bhi kaafi popular tha and joe he does a lot of these serials ka bg music

Finished it and it was so well rounded and atif is so blunt nothing he minces lol at his answer to corporates and his nah buddy ain't doing crap for free learn to pay the artists.. but otherwise extremely well spoken clear humble and genuine.. it has ranged from spirituality to bollywood to family to his drive then to now being content with what he has and not going mad in chasing ..to acting and all
End main woh bandi mentioned farhaan for like 30 secs ke he is being called king of romance and now you doing tv your thoughts and atif ka reaction And his well good for him.. amusing moment tha ke now you are acting contemporaries too.. but his I can carve my niche is action thriller then haha
And I just had ti revist hilmand and sheharzaad after watching his iv one of my favs of theirs the other fav has too big a spoiler so i won't post it just yet
The first is pretty much the base of their story
Ok am in SEM zone now..gosh this soundtrack hits so different right in the feelz..and each story so beautiful each character..btw one cannot even recognize omair Rana aka dawood Ali khan in this but Oh Gosh did I love his character Gosh easily his best work imo ❤️
Also just found out they won the BEST TV writer award for this year for SEM ahh makes me so happy..better than the crap toxic crap it is way above the BS . Man 👏👏and how i terlinked each character is with some sort of guilt and regret from past associated with them and them all trying to let go off it get out of that trap and no I haven't scene guilt written more beautifully in recent times as in the case of omair rana's character..and this show either other characters too
And then ofcourse how well thought the title is and how fitting it is that everyone is looking for their sang e mah i.e Moonstone which is thought to be an emotional healer
Since we are on the subject of childhood cult songs, pop bands etc.....Euphoria was the band I grew up on and amazingly this one didn't break....lol Palash Sen didn't let it break I guess.
This is a nice IV (relevant part starts around 7:30) with a lot of insight into how the music mafia works in Bombay.....Palash just comes across as such a fundamentally honest person who candidly lays out the state of the music scene and why everything is so materialistic and forgettable now....the way he explained how 10 singers are made to record one playback song and the producer comes and randomly picks one version as per their whim....while none of the singers even get paid and everyone says jaake shows karke paise bana lo....lol......and also that labels made singers sign contracts for three years but never produced any albums with them and if someone tried to branch out elsewhere after a contract ended, still tried to suppress them.
One of my fav. bits is where he talks about the nasha of being the complete content creator for a song....not just singing it. That how can a singer claim that is their song when it was first created by a composer/lyricist before it even got to them....lol. Shows that it takes a different kind of thinking to create and sing your own music rather than just succumbing to doing playback.
The part with the reference about Atif is towards the end of the video.....lol he pointed out that Jal had a certain scale in how they composed songs and there was a phase when it got copied by a lot of Indian singers....so him saying this much only offended a lot of people and they bashed him
I just loved how Euphoria always felt original when I was growing up listening to them....every song has a callback to a certain memory of those years and such a lasting quality they have that I can still listen and have it touch my heart :)
It just kinda makes you think that Indian Pop singers got shortchanged by the fact that the giant Bollywood industry consumes the whole music scene in India for the most part so independent music hardly gets a chance.......meanwhile Pak doesn't have a big movie industry so independent musicians get more scope there to create and publish their content in a meaningful way I guess

I will watch it and thanks for sharing I do know maayri inka bohat popular tha and nice bhi hai..acha this was the IV that atif also referenced and said that he appreciated the truth but also how then he was bashed for them and be felt.bad they for talk about thus in his IV too and he was like but for him all that is not new since people have been very harsh to him right at start of his career . Yeah it sucks I gave seen many singers talk about thus state and dunny baat yeh hai.ke final.cut main they pick singers like Neha kakkar oh puhleez or go into arijit overdrive or is more like whoever is trending just exhaust audience of them so much so ke naam dekh ke hi.peeche hut jaayein but the thing is back in.the day those top singers who were singing a lot say udit sonu abhijeet Kumar sanu they all had such distinct pallets that itna kaam ke baad bhi the exhaustion didn't set in and the songs still had something different to offer that way agar compositions bhi same style ki ho rahi thi nowadays their is no other singer than arijit and aisa toh mahi hai ke talent nahi hai but they are sabotaging their own industry so badly and it is the reason why none f the music even stays relevant once the film is released or even before that..say even 10 years ago films were known Caz of the music a song that would have clicked amd people used to remember them and it is always oh that song wala film the recall value but ab kaha hain? Loi music hit ho bhi jaaye toh kisi ko really pata nahi hai kahan se hai..once the film fades the songs fade too mujhe toh koi aisa song recently yaad nahi hai jiske loye baar baar someone has seen a film while this was a thing day when oso realeased or yjhd released or a BM or ram Leela came out..
And the whole rights thing feels very similar to what atif was saying too ke if you are making money from an artist the artist should too afterall itnis their creation and that singers should demand it before signing the contracts don't leave them with the corporates so they keep making money while the artists are out in rough times..
Wohi toh baat hai aaj bhi title hi kaafi hai inke maayri ka and woh whole song clearly yaad hai it is bane lagta hai head main including the instruments and music but aisa aajkal toh hota nahi hai..or say Alisha chinoy ke songs back then like made in india remains a classic

Haan and that is what he was talking about in the IV also....ki back then ek gaane ko compose and release karne mein way more struggle hoti thi toh uska impact bhi lasting hota tha.....aajkal sab kuch instantly banke release hota hai and 2 din mein sab bhool bhi jaate hain.....lol. I really liked how he described the struggle and satisfaction of creation....I've rarely seen an artist so content with whatever he's achieved even if he doesn't have blockbuster fame like many of his contemporaries....like he is basically a contemporary of KK and Shaan from the Indipop scene of the 90s but clearly he stuck to his band while everyone else moved on to different kinds of singing. But he is just so content with the organic reach of his music....the way he described how people still remember Maeri and that makes him feel that his struggle was worth it.
Maeri he composed for his mom and woh gaane mein baat hi aisi hai ki it makes you think of home, childhood, simpler times.....that is why it has had the longevity to still be remembered.
He mainly rose to fame with Dhoom first....and us time pe aisa MV release hona bhi unique tha....his MVs used to be directed by Pradeep Sarkar who later on went on to direct some Bollywood movies also.

Oh i know yeh ab na jaa song.. just so soothing and beautiful.. the whole MV also have such a relaxing feel rather than trying g to glamorize too much and not having koi sar paoon..and I think ptadeep discovered vidya somewhere around here hi Caz she was in one of their MV's and then went on to debut with pradeep sarkaar in parineeta.
Also that Kapil's show performance was sooooo good matlab yehi dekh lo aaj kal nobody would sing live on a TV show either wahan bhi sab lipsulync karte hain baghair auto tune ke toh koi ittu sa bhi sing nahi kar sakta very rare it is to even.get live singing at actual concerts too ..and yeh old school wale prefer that Caz talent toh wahi hai.na auto tune toh koi bhi kar sakta hai

Oh yeah, that was the Gully song....lol bahuuuuut hit video tha woh from my teen years....non-stop play hota tha MTV and Channel V pe.....for the longest time, I only knew Vidya as the girl from the Gully video.
MVs tab yaad bhi rehte the cuz they used to add a whole intro story bit to most of them....like this one also had the intro of Vidya talking about how she loved someone else even if her parents were marrying her off to another guy

.....he talked about it in the IV also that Kapil actually accommodated his request to bring in the whole band for the performance warna most places don't agree when he asks for his whole band to come along....they only want him to show up and sing by himself and he refuses....lol....matlab this era of singers never half-ass anything....full soul daal ke perform karte hain that is why their songs have lived on so long. He was talking about how he recently came across 18 year olds singing along to Maeri and they weren't even born when the song released 23 years back....lol that is the power of good music....it is not time bound.
