Why is it necessary to lock the topic when the topic maker has already posted several songs and others want to participate already?

it was agreed between me and the TM that they would post early since they weren’t available to post at the stipulated time ie 9 am IST. The songs posted are also the TMs (except one or two). Did the TM ask you to lock the topic because the TM had planned the first several posts, and hadn't finished posting them all?

Or, would the TM be disappointed if members who are eager to post in the new topic feel frustrated because it's locked, and lose interest?

Speaking of losing interest, the TM of the Valentine's Day topic has hibernated before the week is over.

You could compromise: keep one topic pinned until it's time to pin the next, but allow posting in the next topic the way you allow posting in previous topics.

In my experience, only a few members of India Forum want to maintain a pecking order where their point of view cannot be challenged, they own topics, no one talks out of turn etc. The rest of us, who don't need powerful friends to invent/ignore rules for our convenience, simply appreciate responses whenever we share.

So I think it’s okay to wait a few hours before you can post in this thread. The other thread may have hibernated but it still needs to be given the chance to stay pinned and for members to actively post in it until it’s pinned.

I don’t understand your reference to the pecking order or powerful friends or its relevance in this instance.

As a mod, I’m only doing what is fair to all TOTW TMs.

And yes, the TM asked to make all their posts at once because that is how TOTWs are posted.. the first few songs are posted by the TM and then other members follow suit. Since he wouldn’t be available at 9 am IST, he made all his opening posts together.

The thread is open now, it will be pinned in a while. You can post there if you wish.
