This AT is now my go to thread now for discussion. EDT's has become very toxic where they just nitpick every AR action and call him everything of sorts

You remember the day when Armaan realised that he needs to stay away from Ruhi after the hut-in-a-jungle moment? I have been meaning to write about it because I have not seen anyone write about it the way I thought.

Armaan and Ruhi thought they were in love over their brief meeting in Mussoorie and made plans and promises to be with each other forever, but if you have read my previous posts, you'd know I believe it was not love but attraction. Abhira has also said, "10 din mai koi rishta nahi judta". Which is true, relationship needs time, understanding and effort which Ruhi-Armaan didn't had. Armaan thinks, "rishta judne ke liye 1 pal hi kaafi hota hai" but that is not true, because there was no rishta, it was just a brief meeting. 1 pal mai rishta nahi judta, par connection feel hosakta hai, attraction hosakta hai, galat-faimi ho sakti hai but rishta, a relationship between two beings? i personally don't believe it as i believe it needs time, understanding and effort.

Now, Abhira said one more thing, "Ruhi rohit ki wife hai, but itne se time mai bhi husband se attachment to ho hi jaati hai", which is again true. She said "attachment" not relationship or love. I mean, If you have an arranged marriage where there's no love but you marry, live with them and spend time with them, there is some sort of attachment to your significant other—if you believe that this is the person you're gonna spend your life with, there is a hope that the arrange marriage would soon blossom into love, It is a journey in itself but no one knows the end destination of itthere's just hope and belief. The same hope that Rohit had because he believed in the marriage, The hope that Ruhi didn't had because she didn't believe in the marriage. Whereas, Abhira and Armaan, they know their marriage is a deal, there's no hope or belief that it's going to last, but as I said it is a journey which no one knows the destination of...Abhira and Armaan don't know it yet, but their destination is love and their journey itself is a testament of it.

When Ruhi hugged Armaan and he took his own time to pull back Ruhi, a lot us questioned his morals, which anyone would do. No principled man would share such close proximity with his sister-in-law, especially when he's married himself. Not even when they shared a past together, Boundaries must be drawn. And this is where Armaan fails. I believe he is a man of principles, but is a man who's emotional, who falls weak at the hand of emotions, and is always bound by guilt. I am not siding with him but trying to understand why he is the way he is and why he does what he does. Whatever feelings Armaan had for Ruhi were overshadowed when he had to marry Abhira. He was guilt-ridden that Abhira's mom died saving him; he was tensed whether his family would understand his reason of marrying Abhira; he was tensed for Abhira's well-being. He didn't had much time to think about his feelings for Ruhi. His priority due to the guilt and responsibility was Abhira and also to keep harmony in the family. But with Abhira, peace couldn't exist—not her fault though, the Poddars made things hell for Abhira with their endless taunts on her and her mother's upbringing. They didn't even let her grieve for her mother who died not too long ago. And thus Chaos was meant to happen because for how long a strong-headed girl would listen to anything that targets her self-respect and her mother's? And just as Armaan is, he was busy trying to sort out the mess; was busy trying to fulfil his promise to Akshara ma'am but failing; was busy trying to keep peace in the family but failing. So among this chaos, how could he think of his feelings for Ruhi? In his way, how could he be so selfish to think over his own feelings when there's chaos all around? And so he didn't. Instead he kept trying (to this day) to fulfil Akshara ma'am's promise and maintain peace in his family.

But in this journey of guilt and responsibilities, unbeknownst to him, Abhira grew up to be his saathi. A bond blossomed between them, a real bond, which developed with time, understanding and effort. I believe his heart has recognized Abhira as his lovehe's indeed falling for her; Her as 'saathi' isn't just friend for him but more, but he doesn't realise it yet consciously. And thus with time and the growing attachment to Abhira, his attraction for Ruhi kept dying, but he didn't realise it either. Thus when he confessed to himself that he needs to stay away from Ruhi, it wasn't because he had feelings for her that he needs to control—It was his conscious mind thinking that, because he doesn't reach out to his subconscious where the truth resides. He has gotten over that attraction over time by being with Abhira, but he didn't had time to think over it to realise it. He said what he consciously felt that is truth to him. He thought he loved Ruhi and stuck with it. He thought of Abhira as zimmedaari and stuck with it. He thinks he's responsible for everything wrong and is stuck with it. But everything is wrong, and he doesn't understand it. He's a mess himself who doesn't sort himself but others.

"Maine ruhi ko anjaane mai itna comfortable kardiya ki vo mere nazdeek aagayi", and so he finally figured this out. 'Maine' being the keyword here, yes he encouraged her all these times but his intentions weren't wrong however dumb. Ruhi was in the wrong too as much as him. But no, he doesn't blame her but himself because that's how he is—to take burden of all the responsibilities and be guilt-ridden.

And so, when Ruhi hugged him, and he took his own time to pull her away, It wasn't because he still had feelings but because the air in the hut was thick, they were alone, away, after so long. It wasn't exactly behakna (as he said) but when Ruhi hugged him, all his feelings for Ruhi which he didn't sort out, which even died down came on the forefront as a shock to him, catching him off guardand he didn't know what to do with them because all these times he suppressed them, ran away from them instead of sorting them and making sense out of them. He just didn't know what to do, what to think and what to exactly feel. I think that was very real of him—the confusion, the paralyzed state of mind and body, the realisation—he behaved the way he should've. Also, the realisation he first had was of his and Abhira's marriage not Ruhi's giving hint to us that he has moved on, has started falling for Abhira, considers his marriage real and would be doing wrong with Abhira (and Rohit and even himself) if he encouraged any behavior related to the past. That hug was a significant moment for his conscious mind to begin understanding and sorting his past-and-present feelings which the subconscious already has.

But he cares for Ruhi, which is true, consciously and subconsciously. He believes he has wronged her which is trueand his guilt makes everything more worse, it eats him down. Thus he finds it difficult to tell her off or draw boundaries. But in the shirt-button episode, he did. His mind is slowly sorting his chaos of unsorted feelings, and Abhira's constant comments on Ruhi's behaviour is helping him even more and pushing him in the right direction albeit slowly. He drew the boundaries that day, voiced it out because he's on his way to sort out his matter with Ruhi which he couldn't previously as things kept happening one after the other (Rohit-Ruhi's marriage, Akshara ma'am death, Marriage with Abhira, Family problems, especially Rohit's disappeance).

The flashback of Abhira stating "tumhaari dosti kuch jyada hi real hai" followed by Armaan and Ruhi's flashbacks indicated that he knows where Abhira is heading to and thus he himself is heading to the conclusion of his and Ruhi's equation—The past and the present. Yes, he could've pushed her away before she started sewing the button, I myself believe it, but I also do feel that he was stunned by the care and concern of Ruhi. Though there was a brief moment which didn't make sense to me—the moment after him being stunned and before getting the flashback. However brief the moment was, it seemed illogical where he looked down at the button being sewed—though if that moment connects the past and the present, then I do find it making sense, but I still believe that exact moment could've been portrayed better, I don't know if that was the actor's fault or the character's requirement. But yes, he was definitely uncomfortable after that, and then Abhira's words and the flashbacks made him to create a distance between Ruhi and himself. Also, in that scene, Armaan didn't seem like he was talking to his love but instead someone he cares about and believes he wronged. He sounded like a well-wisher, wishing nothing but only the best for her.

"Mai samjh sakta hu Ruhi, jab aapka pyaar aapke nazro ke saamne ho, phir bhi aap use paa na sake, isse bada dard nahi hosakta" He still thinks it was love as he's yet to sort out the chaos completely. He's yet to realise it was just an attraction of two lonely-brokens souls—even Ruhi questioned his love, but he didn't had an answer. Ruhi asked all the right questions, she asked if he has fallen for Abhira which he didn't immediately answer because he himself doesn't know, he took his time but in the end, sided with his conscious and said "nahi" but also followed up with "tumne aisa kyu pucha?". He wondered what made her think so, but it is so obvious that even Ruhi can sense it (even if she denies it with her delusions). As I said, Armaan sticks to one thing, Ruhi=Pyaar, Abhira=Zimmedari, Him=responsible and guilty for everything.

What I believe is he shouldn't run away from his past but face it. Yes, he shouldn't let Ruhi come close to him but observe her behavior, understand it himself and make her understand which he did in the shirt-button conversation but more than anything he needs to understand himself to understand anything else. I believe the more he'd face her, the more he'd sort out the past they had, The more he'd realise it wasn't love. And the more he'd realise what his heart truly says.

As for Ruhi, I have always maintained that I pity her. I feel sad for her and her life. The shirt-button episode might be my fave episode of her—the way she confessed what she feels and thinks, I felt her pain even when I know she isn't morally right (but neither is she mentally well). I don't know what the future holds for her, but I believe she deserves khushi too.

P.S. This post is in conformity till the shirt-button episode (8 feb), I haven't seen the latest episodes. Also, guys this was an old post rotting in my drafts which I tried to edit and update but lost the energy to. This is unedited, and I am not satisfied with the way it's penned down but still posting it because I wanted to share this perspective, so please excuse any mistakes x

P.P.S. This post is in support with one and two.
