well he’s very selfish . Extremely selfish . In order to maintain his Golden boy status he ruined Rohits life with Ruhi . He didn’t marry Ruhi for the same reason . Now he’s hiding truth from Abhira for the sane reason ?

I think more than that there are few reasons for him keeping mum on the subject.

1. If Abhira comes to know about them then in her eyes his image and also their friendship will suffer. She would never forgive him for keeping this kind of secrets and would never trusts him and he would lose the only friend he had. He may not realize it yet, but Abhira and her friendship matters to him a lot more than he thinks.

2. Abhira might confront Ruhi leading her to walk out of Poddar house and what happened before could repeat again. He was done at that time but only his family kept him going.

3. Everyone in the family might get to know and things would turn ugly for everyone. He is not really the golden boy of that family. He earns his place everyday in that family in exchange of many sacrifices he makes. He would lose everything he held dear.

4. He is someone who can take the burden of thousand mountains to keep everyone happy. He feels guilt and responsibility when it comes to Ruhi. So he would bear the burden instead of unburdening himself to a friend. He never really had a friend before. And he is a loner in reality. Abhira is there for him but he doesn't realize that yet.
