Nope, she didn’t insert herself in Zaid’s relationship with MJ - she left that up to him. His choice. Which was actually good. Why should she actively demand to break up someone’s marriage just for her own gain? This had to be Zaid’s decision.

For her own marriage, she wanted to be given enough respect for them to ask for her hand officially - she wanted Asif to accept defeat. Again given what she had been through, it makes sense. She even said it that she did it for her brother - you can watch that scene again. Lastly, who knows maybe she was calling out Zaid’s bluff because part of her thought his father would never agree to it 😂 and she just wanted to end that chapter by saying it.

Before I started binge watching the show,I was of the opinion that either Zaid-MJ should be endgame or all 3 of them should end up separately.But after watching the episodes post marriage where Zaid treates her horribly,I Didn't want them to be endgame anymore.Plus after seeing the level Asif stooped to Wrt Ayra,if Zaid-MJ end up together,it will be his win in a way.I don't want that to happen.Felt that Zaid-Ayra aren't compatible even before Asif started his plotting and Ayra being with someone whose father is responsible for her brother's death is something I don't understand.

Yep one of the dilemmas of a Zaid/Mj endgame is also that it just proves Asif’s classist mentality right. And nobody wants the bad guy to be proven right 🤷‍♀️

Asif’s hard on for MJ’s perfection and genes and what not is always super weird lol. When Zaid told him he’s in love with Ayra he was all “Kutta bhi dekh ker paala jaata hai” 😳😳😳 and when talking about Zaid and MJ he was all “log jaltay hain uss se” 😂 “what a great gene pool” etc etc - it’s freakin gross man

If she gave Zaid the choice, and went ahead with being second wife, why she took offence to him spending time with MJ? She was clearly uncomfortable.

She didn’t anticipate how she would actually feel about it and she knew how MJ used to be - plus Zaid constantly telling her he loves her and the MJ thing is just contractual. She probably thought she’ll never be jealous but she did end up being jealous. Happens 🤷‍♀️

happened with MJ too when Zaid was flirting with the girls. Yet she still stuck with him. Then the whole ayra thing - she’s in therapy and taking meds to cope with it. They’re both experiencing jealousy and dealing with it in their own ways - MJ was just prepared for it mentally and ayra wasn’t. But even she later on accepted that zaid can go to MJ’s room coz she’s his wife too. She came around

I think your character sketch of Zaid is very different to mine (not our fault, it’s the writing). For me he’s not a saint and just a *giver* - his actions towards both women have been toxic and questionable at different times. Yes, he’s made these amazing grand gestures of love for Ayra - but he’s also punished her at different times as well. He loves but there’s an edge to his love.

MJ is also not a *giver* - at least so far in her relationship she’s not. Her needs just align with Zaid’s at the moment - their companionship. But I’m hopeful when she gets tested, she will prove she can give selflessly as well. Still waiting on that in the show.

@Bold - You know I was actually thinking whether those so called 'grand gestures' of Zaid were actually for Ayra or not. Yes, he was there for her when her brother died, he vowed to bring the protection into Ayra's world which she lost along with her brother, he was considerate towards her, was fighting with his father for her etc. But I am assuming when we say 'grand gestures' it implies him leaving behind his everything for her, not once but twice, no? I honestly doubt whether he actually did it for her - wasn't that his ego/ 'mein' in action?

Apart from feeling guilty and being in guilt, the Achilles heel of Zaid's character is being in the shadow of his father - not getting recognised and accepted for what he is rather than known as Asif Khan's son - I am not sure if it is obvious, but I felt he has a slight inferiority complex on this regard.

The first time he left 'sab kuch' and went to Ayra's house, the seed was planted by Kashmala - it was not coming from him initially. And through out his journey to Ayra's house, he was thinking about what Aamir said about him being someone who is dependent on his father's money, not a self-made man - seemed to me Aamir unknowingly had hit the bull's eye. That is why I think that his gesture of 'leaving his house, family and all relationships' at that point was more to satisfy his ego - to prove what Aamir said was wrong - than for his love. It was his 'mein' coming to forefront.

The second time he left - did he really leave? This 'leaving' was very confusing - he first left, Asif was sure that this time his son won't come back, then Asif and MJ went to bring him back, he denied them - then next day he came back demanding he want to marry Ayra. As he said there, he was 'not blackmailing' his father, rather requesting! If he really left what is the need of all that. Then, before he left, Asif disowned him - saying all that about everything he had was because of his father. He was hurt and disappointed after hearing it from horse's mouth - his ego was badly hurt, and the things he did afterward were because he was sour! If I remembered correctly, he was recalling his father's dialogues couple of times. Yes, in the middle of this, he stood by Ayra, but his 'leaving behind everything' seems to me more for selfish reasons - for his ego, than grand gestures of love! Just my point

If MJ supports Zaid when he eventually goes against his father , he won’t be thinking like this ever again.

MJ will go against Asif when the time comes. It has already been foreshadowed

In fitoor the girl was forced to marry the guy much older to her...she married him against her wish and was in love with someone else and also had an ema with her lover but she ended up with her husband proving that her mother and brothers decision was right..

So we can take a cue from that, even in fitoor I think people were contemplating that with whom dilnasheen would end up with, here also the writer has played the same card to keep the audience guessing..

There the main leads got a happy ending so hoping the same for the "poster leads"🤭 of this show..

Also pak dramas have tendency of showing that the forced marriages work and they are for the betterment of the characters

Both things can be true. Zaid left because of wanting to be with Ayra “Main jaa raha hoon uss ke paas. Uss ke saath rehnay!”and also to act on ego. Doesn’t have to be either or. Humans are complex :)

oh I want her to! For so many reasons lol. It would be so entertaining to watch Asif’s shock and look of betrayal. And also MJ standing by Zaid to seek justice for Ayra ? WHAT? It would be something indeed lol
