I don't think there was cheating involved esp from shoaib's side since rumours of Sania and him being seperated has been going on for almost 2+ yrs

It's mainly because a lot of people were thinking they were still married to their exes. This came from nowhere out of the blue. If these two were deciding to get married they could have officially announced their divorces.
