Yeah, our country is so diverse, as each region has its own set of traditions and customs. It's difficult to understand which day, where, and what is observed. smiley1 Like in some select groups in the South, Holi just isn't observed at all. Or it's seen as a North Indian festival or on the other hand, it's given a different name, and just a simple pooja is done.

If so let this old couple be entertaining pls.smiley41

How will she take to live-in of Jayesh & Ishika needs to be seen. Will she stay in Jahan's flat or Jayesh's during her Mumbai stay? is she going to openly oppose Ishika's marriage to Jayesh & his impending divorce to Bhavani? or pretend she is fine. smiley9

It was reported that the new granny or Aaji is a temporary character, so when temporary, why introduce a husband for her? Of course, if the ratings are favorable, her role can be extended, then maybe she can have a family or something.. But for now it's just her. Rest of the things you have mentioned above remains to be seen. smiley1

Most likely, since they have shot those parts that shows the Ahujas and the new entry Aaji are debating which festival should be celebrated- Makar Sankranti or Lohri. It seems (at least from the SBS link) that Virat will be in charge of Lohri preparations and Amruta Makar Sankranti. smiley1

Yup. Have seen Diwali is not that big a thing in Kerala ... and also that holi is celebrated in some other day by some other name in one community (in kerala and I think karnataka too).

Too diverse and can be confusing.

In Tamil Nadu 14th is Bogi day where they burn old things, clean up and start fresh by tying neem leaves, Avarampoo and Pulapoo at three corners of the house, night draw elaborate colorful Rangolis in front and back yards and Pooja rooms and on 15th eary morning coinciding with sunrise celebrate Pongal by cooking sweet and plain pongal and offering to God with turmeric plants tied around the pots with other dal curries and vegetable fries and full sugarcane plants tied at the sides and offer prayers by breaking coconuts and doing aarthis. 16th is mattu pongal or cows' pongal where the cows are decorated and pongal is cooked and offered for them and God. In villages, they celebrate jalli kattu where trained brave men set in to tame wild male cows in open grounds with festivities amidst large crowds.

Since Pongal is a harvest festival, it is celebrated elaborately by farmers. People living in towns and flats celebrate it in moderate levels.

Yes, this serial does not have a main, cunning villain but only people turning negative when their paths are crossed. But have Babita and Bebe being cruel and immune to people's feelings.

We do have very deep, diversified religion/language and customs but there are many basic similarities in all the regions. In cooking, we use the same ingredients but in different proportions among the states in the South. We need to read the history of each state to understand its traditions and culture. In South, especially Tamil Nadu, people actually worshipped nature more than idols in the ancient past. We have chithargal, saints/men who lived worshiping nature. It is at the advent of Aryan culture that idols were started to be worshipped. Recent excavations have proved this. We worship Muruga, brother of Ganpathy, second son to Lord Shiva and Parvathi but He is not worshipped in the North. And Holi is celebrated by people from North who live here. Mehendi and sangeet were never in our wedding functions but they are included now with the mix up of cultures now with different state people living together.

Instead of travelling abroad, people need to travel to each state and enjoy India's rich culture and heritage with mutual respect. We will have so many interesting things to learn from each other. That is why being national oriented is so important now.

Sorry for the long post.

It will be interesting to see when and how Amruta falls for Virat. Right now, she has no time, inclination and intention. Sriti as Amruta is doing a very good job with dealing with Arjit/Virat on the nokjok level because of her offscreen comfort zone. The real test will be when their relationship will turn romantic. Sriti will sure do it in her own style but it will be interesting to watch her when it happens.
