Aish and Deepika get compared a lot and I'm seeing more and more of the similarities. Not just in being Bhansali's muses but also in terms of stardom and having a very unique and striking look that intimidates their contemporaries. I feel in terms of current actresses who came closest to capturing the popularity that Sridevi and Madhuri had back in the 80s/90s, it would be Aishwarya and Deepika especially as global icons with international reach. Even in terms of the hate they receive, it's very similar and usually because of those who feel they can't capture their goddess image.

Yes. And a lot of people who work/closely associated with BW, say that Ash was the Dream Girl in the 90s & early 2000s, and DP is the Dream Girl of the 2010s & now, esp before her marriage. All men wanted to be with them & all women hated them lol. Anushka makes no bones of the fact that she hates DP! Loool. She’s also spoken about how much attention DP used to get when she used to come to college (DP was already a model back then) they went to Mount Carmel, Bangalore, many years ago. How she felt shortchanged etc & how its a known B’lore thing that DP with her beauty & talent + being PP’s daughter, got tonnes of attention. Totally Obvious she was extremely jealous of DP. So is Sonam who also doesn’t really mask that she can’t stand DP lol. RK did dump her to be with DP. lol.

More emboldened than by the women who hated them all along who prop up this misogynistic behavior just because it's directed at a woman they cannot stand because they know there's no competition. I had no idea that Anushka had problems with DP even before they started off in the business. It does remind me of that KWK interview where Anushka and Katrina both made very clear that they were not friends with DP, whereas DP said in the media that she and Anushka are friends. You can tell who's really got a problem with the other and who is totally unaffected by jealousy or spite. Sonam came across as even more desperate because Anushka at least was always consistent whereas Sonam pretended to be gal pals after bonding with DP over their Ranbir dislike on the KWK couch.

In fairness, I would like to state that DP’s PR is bad. Like bad bad. But this isn’t the reason why these women hate her- They hate her b/c she’s super successful + extremely beautiful, her bad PR & cutting her competitors down, just makes them feel their jealousy is valid.

Yes, that's the interview I remember. I can't believe DP actually answered that and even KJo called her out on that because it was such a lie or DP had to be completely unaware from living in a bubble.

Her PR is very obvious and not subtle at all. But in this cutthroat industry, I think you have to have PR like that to survive and remain at the top and I'm seeing that other actors are more or less doing the same thing now so it seems to be the norm. Maybe DP helped normalize this behavior.

Potentially Anu in her initial career.. and with Alia I am not sure. However, with Sonam I am pretty sure DP has a history of trying to be a fashion icon (a term often associated with Sonam because of her impeccable fashion sense) and falling flat on her face 🤣 Sonam is able to pull off so many outfits and looks that don't suit most. I just want to say that Sonam is deemed a fashion icon because it's the only legitimate title the industry can give her because it's never going to be about her personality, box office success, or acting skills. And this is coming from someone who genuinely likes her more than others on here.

Now, it doesn’t mean necessarily that this shows she is insecure, per se, but seeing how she acts around her, RK-DP history & then this stuff? She’s definitely vv insecure. She also picks clothes for statuesque women a La her midnight blue sequinned gown on KWK, when she came with DP.

Poor DP has tonnes of haters but it’s just a fact that tonnes of BW actresses are extremely jealous & insecure of DP. Anushka & Sonam are 2 more who are. Like how all actresses were extremely insecure of Ash, back in the day.

ETA: Alia is always searching & craving for validation from the K Khandaan. Just watch her around Kareena esp on their KWK, and it’s completely obvious. She CANT believe she finally won her trophy.

At one point Deepika had the most obnoxious fans, they used to bash other celebs left, right and centre, whether it was because of their appearance or when their movie was released.
