The idea of Dunki is fantastic and also novel. Nobody has done a movie on this concept before and that is the reason I went to watch it despite the subpar trailer.
Also, what he wanted to show vs what he showed was different. He should have focussed on topic in hand and not digressed to the entire narrative of open border thing. That will only cause chaos in the world. Or if he wanted to prove this point right, then dialogues should have been better and more logical.
But that, Hirani didn't do (at least felt so)...he was not denying that visa are important but questioned the proceedings so that people fall for the Dunki shemes.
That is a subject in many parts in the world...the inhuman exploitation of the wish to work/live in another country denied by inflexible laws.
That 'open border thing' was - imo - expressed as an unrealistic wish...
