Swarna used to be Manish Goenka 's secretary when he was married to his wife. She suspected affair , committed suicide and then within few days Swarna and Manish Goenka marry ! That's why kartik hated her and never accepted her for a long time.

As far as i remember Swarna had feelings for Manish, she was working with him as his secretary, but there was no affair going on. But Manish Goenka 's wife could sense something is going on. Due to misunderstanding, she committed suicide. Instead of feeling guilt or pain, Manisha goenka and swarna marry each other immediately

I use to think it was because of Birlas the Rishta story faltered cause they were not typical Rishta family who celebrate every function and have strong bonding

But now that I look back , it started from Birlas itself.

Before Birlas, Akshara and Naitik have many ups and downs but their families were very supportive one of another. And families didn't fight with each other in toxic way.

Naira suffered a lot in that Birla house.

I think worst mistake was killing her and introducing Sirat. This is where Rishta became bad. Because of Sirat we got one more parallel lead Aarohi and now Ruhi ( and led to toxic 3rd angle )

Honestly, atp they should just remove Birlas forever and stick with poddars or maybe introduce some new family.
