Yami's film doing so much better than all the big names is pretty funny. I presume Yami got paid a lot less than Alia or Kareena and the film cost a lot less than all these big budget bollywood film's recent streaming rights
The absolute numbers don't feel impressive at all. Its possible that a lot of Netflix India's base just prefers to watch the American or Korean content on it rather than Indian. The streaming bubble will dry up sooner or later.
I know you didn’t specify Mission Majnu. That was me adding it as a Sid fan. I was making a context argument. Basically as you said, relatively speaking it is in a good position. Very good position IMO
Yami’s movie doing so well is poetic justice if you will. Going forward she can increase her fees and the makers can get a bigger budget too. As of now due to aggressive marketing and longevity (in case of Kareena) and yes name recognition and familial connections, she’s very behind Alia and Kareena in terms of fees. But if she continues to have this kind of success she can surpass them on OTT medium.
