Season 4 of YRKKH has become addictive to me! I never expected the makers to do such a good job with the leads and characters especially considering what a fiasco, season 3 was and especially when they have copied GHKKPM storyline. But I think this storyline is much better than the Lost show to be honest. Let's compare and contrast the characters of both shows:

1. Abhira: She is my absolute favorite character! She is soft, bubbly, clumsy and cute- all in one. I like her frank approach, her badbad that creates gadbad, her expressions and the way she says haww. I absolutely love how she is not a typical sherni- loved that she was terrified of Yuvraj- that's exactly how a normal girl would behave! She did give back to him and did fight but she is no superwoman and she knows that. Her character is very realistic as a 22-23 year old girl raised in a hill station town/city. Even her post-marriage scenes are so realistic- the way she's missing her mom constantly and wondering why her destiny brought her to Udaipur, her awkwardness and terseness with Armaan, her feeling lost in her new sasural- all are up to mark. Abhira is really not like Sai, except for their circumstances- their personalities are very different. I love Sai because she was very different from an ITV bahu but when I was rewatching some old episodes, I am really grateful that they have not mirrored Abhira's personality like Sai or even Naira and Akshu. Poddar family is also thankfully not like Chavan family either, the latter were way too ridiculous so the drama will be more entertaining here I think. I actually like all Poddar family characters even the negative ones because their characters at least make sense here- they have clear motivations that guide their behaviors. Abhira will fit in well within the family because a lot of family members will be able to empathize with her- Armaan's dad, bua, chachu and chachi and cousins.

2. Armaan: I love the male protagonist in this season! He is an amazing etched out character much much better than Virat. See it makes sense for Armaan to sacrifice Ruhi for Rohit for his stepmom and dadi- because he knows that he not loved by them due to his mom. He has grown up as the eldest son but he was never loved as one. He is also a righteous guy who is conflicting with the grey shaded people of his family. What I love- he knows his daadi and phuphasa are ruthless and are not ethical. They are discriminatory based on class and gender. They are money obsessed and only think about reputation. He knows exactly what they think about his dad and his bio mom. Virat was completely oblivious to all this in his family- because he was the golden boy. Similar to Rohit- do you see how oblivious Rohit is when he says Armaan is everyone's favorite? That's because golden boys are treated so nicely- they never see how everyone else is treated. Virat never thought about his cousin Devi who was kept insane by her mother, he never thought about his cousin Mohit or how Karishma was treated badly- why? Because he was not affected. Hell he never thought about his parent's relationship or how his mom is treated by his dad and kaku. But Armaan knows Madhav and Vidya are not happy together. He knows the negative undercurrents in the house. He is at least not unaware. Armaan helps his chachu secretly in his cases. He is the go-to guy for the cousins. So Armaan has at least the awareness and he does have a conscience. He just needs to speak his heart out, which he is unable to because he is not the favored son and he was conditioned to seek his grandma's approval. But Abhira will be the one who will lead the change. She will inspire him to speak out. Armaan does not have the scruples of playing a knight in shining armor or being divided between duty and love. He just needs to be able to listen to his heart.

3. Ruhi- She has broken the cycle of her mom and grandma. Sirat was the second wife, from a poor background. Arohi married the illegitimate and adopted son. Ruhi has married the heir and the favorite grandson. Rohit already loves her- she is the favored bahu - so what is she lacking? The reason why Ruhi can never be Pakhi is because Ruhi has a tragic backstory. Ruhi lost her father before she was born, then her mother when was 7 and then her poppy a month later. She also lost the Birla family when they moved away. She was raised by her great-grandparents. Pakhi had 2 loving parents who would do everything for her. She was free to remarry after Samrat died but she didn't because of her obsession with Virat. So I really have no sympathy for Pakhi. At the moment, I do love Ruhi simply because of the connect with season 3. Ruhi has all rights to hate Akshara or to not have her in her life. Though intentionally, Akshara was involved in the death of her parents. Then Abhimanyu followed her to Ranikhet and died a month later. Unfortunately, Akshu is this unlucky omen- there is no other way I can describe it who took away her primary caregivers. I wouldn't mind if Ruhi also hates Abhira simply because of this- their equation is already becoming complicated because of Armaan- this is natural. But they need to show a full circle- I would love if they are able to bring this whole death saga to a closure. Ruhi is already softening towards Rohit- they are slowly becoming friends so would love to see a full length journey of them becoming life partners. There is a lot of scope because Rohit is still childish- they are opposites so he needs to be able to understand her pain while she needs to make realize the reality of his family. I would love if it becomes Rohit vs Armaan for a bit, Rohit becoming disillusioned because of the betrayal and then becoming jaded and Ruhi working hard to claim his love. There is a LOT they can unfold in their story in terms of their professional trajectories too- if they show it.

I think they can do really well with this season- they have outside and inside villains, grey shaded characters, romantic squares, brewing potential for unlimited drama. Armaan and Abhira characters are appropriately opposite and yet similar and their love journey can be really beautiful. Just hope the makers are able to take their time and not rush!

Completely agree with you. Sai was a character that I loved and enjoyed watching a lot, but she was some sort of a miracle character. She was courageous beyond limits which is not normal in real life. Abhira is more connected to real life. She is nervous ,fearful and some scenes like she holding armaan hand in front of her in laws make it more realistic, as a normal woman in a forced marriage behave in front of strangers. She is bubbly and rude but fearful as well unlike sai. Why I am liking armaan just a little more than virat is that he is more caring towards sai compared to virat in initial days reason being their usha and ashwini were their to take care of sai, here abhira is all alone. So armaan behaving like that is soothing. And armaan back drop is much better because of being the neglected one compared to virat. This makes story more engaging when the couple's will find solace in each other company.

Ruhi and Poddar are much much better than pakhi and Chavan no doubt. As in Chavan either their were sai supporters or sai haters. But here their are all three groups abhira haters(dadisa and fufaji and 50 percent vidya), abhira supporters( Rohit❤️, Aryan and other girl) and neutral characters ( father ,roohi, chacha chachi bua and her son ).

And thanks to chachi zillat arena will not be cruel but entertaining for sure.

And that abhira background will be a big turner in the storyline whenever it comes out. As then atleast she will be not called gold digger.

When comparisons are made then Gen 1 & 2 should also be included.

Why single out 3.

I would still divide legacy into 2

Sr Akshara's legacy carried on by Naira

and

Jr Akshara legacy currently handled by Abhira

S1 was slow for me but yeah Platinum on a one to one basis.

Unfortunately Kusum Dola is way much better than Icche Nodee and it can be tweaked by writers, you cannot expect much from IN where Adrija had shades of Viraj Dobriyal.

What I like about season 4 is Manisha Chachi and Manoj Poddar, they. bring comic relief which was lagging 3.

What I hate about 4

DKP's unhealthy obsession about Roohmaan, it won't work.
