Let’s not pretend like we have never seen toxicity in cinema that was celebrated …and won several awards and box office records

The cinematic experience is not the same as the moral takeaway from the film

Who is pretending? These movies were called out when they were released because the makers romanticized the abuser stalker. And if 30 years ago, something wrong was accepted, does it mean we have to be silent now?

ONE woman? This whole entire thread is celebrating the success of this movie glorifying violence against women.

I am not at all for censoring people's freedom of art but there will always be a few bad apples imitating fiction. If we start censoring fictions, there would not be a Jawan too as a group would argue it promotes vigilantism & crime. Perhaps, we should be talking more about why we're scared that fiction would shape up adult humans' perceptions! What's lacking in their intellect to differentiate between fiction & real life or good and bad. I know it's easier said than done. But threads like this which outright degrades women for merely watching Animal and being happy for the actor's success will only worsen the problem.

No. I am not one of those who believes that a movie can influence people. I am just saying that Vijay was very much the hero and Bobby was villain but that villain was also not shown as someone boys will hate so I am not gonna credit Vanga here that he was writing them as people who should not be celebrated, of course he wanted to celebrate both characters. He celebrated them on screen

Coming to real life, this society is worse than two characters in the movie, the movie is just bringing all those together and they are attacking everyone that's why I feel it is better to not give him what he wants

1. I didn't ask for any movie to be censored. If you want support even ISIS, you should be able to in movies.

2. I didn't degrade women anywhere in this thread. When they claim to be feminists and still celebrate violence against women, they will get called out. It's a very basic requirement to ask of people. Don't physically or sexually assault women and don't celebrate art which does it. Not to censor. But don't at least celebrate it.

3. Art does influence culture and vice versa. Anyone who claims otherwise is being disingenuous.

Even Abhisar Sharma, a senior journalist gave a review and said that the character loved his father and his wife

Only here, I have seen a take where you are supposed to despise both that's why I am freely expressing my views here. You dare say anything against it on Twitter or anywhere else

And nope …journalists also said that his love goes to destructive villainous lengths …there is a creepy undertone to his love and the film made that obvious …

No one came out saying “I wanna be like ranvijay”…they said “ranbir killed it”…there is a massive difference between the two

Darr - The woman had happy ending with the man she loved and toxic character died a horrible death

Baazigar - His obsession with revenge ended up killing him

Devdas - The dude had worst death track where he couldn't even see last glimpse of the woman he loved

Let's not pretend like these movies celebrated the character, it showed that there's no happy ending to the toxicity unlike Kabir Singh and Animal

You don't have to care about feminism. You don't even have to care about women. Why would you when women don't?

Also OP, you were before gleefully shitting on other women in the PC Vs SRK thread. How do you figure blaming women everytime for the failures of men reflects on feminism?

The movie is written by 3 men. Directed and edited by a man. Produced by a man. Spearheaded by a man. Women are not even token actors in Venga's universe. They are only tools for the alpha man narrative. Neither does the violence add depth or character to the movie, nor does it help set the narrative. It also shocks and makes your senses go on an overdrive, like it's so unbelievable at some parts that you go ohhhh shittt loudly. By the time you come off that high (of emotions), you'll see that there was no plot or story.

If you're offended by the movie, drag the maker and mind behind the crap. Actually, I even see a lot of men this time speaking up about the misplaced violence in the movie unlike KS/AR, which is a good thing. People are catching up to his brand of cinema. It's only gaining traction because it's novel at this point. He masks his lack of story and plot behind the violence. By his fourth or fifth venture, that shit be stale. No more takers. It will phase out just like other crap. But the shifting blame to women will never phase out sadly, here or IRL.
