Nothing else left to elucidate. Ciao

Feminism is about women's rights. That includes women's safety and the ability to participate in sports tailored to female physical capabilities.

Trans inclusive cannot come at the expense of biological women which is what is being demanded.

I'm not lecturing anyone. Support violence against women if you want to and call yourself a feminist. I'm fully aware I'm fighting a losing battle on this. Only when there is no safe space left will people actually wake up.

Ciao to you too.

Pray who is “celebrating” violence against women ?

The movie which promotes toxicity and violence against women is being celebrated. By women. The crap has supporters who now pretend art has no impact on society.

How does it “promote” toxicity and violence? by showing it?
by the lead character doing it?
that’s promotion?
The whole film is characters looking at him in disgust, leaving him and him losing his shit in the end ….that’s barely a “promotion” of such behaviour

Oh OK. Didn’t know his son was younger than the movie.

I have seen that segment of his interview with Anupama. Two possibilities here: 1. He makes these problematic and red flag statements just for shock value. He wants to trigger women and stick it to everyone who criticized his movie. 2. He actually is a toxic abusive son of a b!tch.

His mindset may be like that only where he feels that hitting in a relationship is fine if it's both sided.

That’s really messed up. A psychoanalyst would have a field day talking to him.

I am not watching this movie at all, but I don't think its okay to shame anyone in the audience least of all women who are subjected to violence a lot in the country. They are not responsible for toxic and misogynistic men who are shaped due to their environment and by watching movies made by such directors. Regardless of women watch it or not, such men will exist, unless they are educated and taught otherwise.

Same here. I will not be watching the movie.

I don't want to shame women. But I have been deeply saddened by the women who know better turn a blind eye to the gross toxicity simply because it stars their favorite.

I was extremely disturbed after the movie not because it will influence real people but to see influence of real life incident on screen.

Rape of women in public eye for vengeance and anger, have seen it during Manipur, have seen people justifying it. No matter what happens women are the first ones to be attacked in extremely brutal manner

Ranbir's character is a hero alright, he is not shown as someone wrong, they presented him as a hero with BGM when he takes gun in a college or when he points his gun on a pregnant lady and threatens to kill her babies, have seen it during Gujarat riots

The movie influencing people is not my concern at this point, I am just horrified by the mentality of men and celebration of it around me.

I hope we can all agree that toxic masculinity and violence against women are social evils that we have to address as a society. I hope we can all agree that a movie that creates a protagonist that celebrates such behavior and draws in audiences to celebrate such behavior is a problematic movie.

Personally, I think we could do so much better if we tried to see what we have in common and collectively stand against something we all disagree with. I know there are many ways of being a woman and a feminist. I do find many of these ways distasteful and disagreeable. But hopefully, someday, we can have a fruitful discussion about that. However, I think we need to find common ground when we are dealing with toxic masculinity being celebrated on such a grand scale.

Anyway, I really hope I can convince women celebrating the film's success to stop doing so. I wish fans were not so one-dimensional. I know the urge to celebrate your favorite actor's success. But sadly, this is not a film to celebrate. When a popular and mainstream actor does such a problematic role, it can set the entire nation back several steps. We can and should criticize our favorites when they do something that goes against our morals.

Can someone tell me what’s the misogyny in this movie? I have been not active in BW discussions for some time and out of loop. I was thinking to watch this movie in theaters, but now cancelling it.

Thank you for saying this.

Yesterday, someone was saying Vanga wants to work with SRK. I will cut up my fan card that day. People like SRK and Ranbir are in the position to say no to this kind of toxic crap.

Still not blaming Ranbir as much for it because (arm chair psychoanalysis) many artists are selfish. They can act in a movie for money and fame but not think like the character. Vanga, though...

Also, I can normally separate art from artist, or I wouldn't enjoy Anne Perry books. But Vanga has made it clear he and his art are the same.
