Logged in here just to say how bad the movie was.

Apart from Ranbir's acting being good in some parts, movie had nothing going for it. Vanga probably came up with this nonsensical execution of a hald-baked script in his delulu land where he thinks corporate entity owner will single handedly execute 100s of people in foreign land and still be able to travel freely across countries like US because he is rich.

I get it from the movie name that the movie is mostly showing a cavemen like animalistic tendencies in rich brats, but director thinks somehow audience can also behave like cavemen and watch his 3:30 hours long violence-filled fantasy of an alpha man acting on its whims and come out as a hero of his family. All this while the emotional connect is lacking completely.

Kabir Singh had humor at times and some men who had a balanced head on their shoulders. Here, it is an uneducated rich guy with an army of boot licking brothers who glorify everything their *hero* is doing. The constant justification of the protagonist's actions by himself or his bootlickers are not just discomforting but fall in the ridiculous territory where you think the story is being narrated to me by a manchild trying to be an edgelord. The use of women as doormats put aside, the constant portrayal of them as child bearing machines and the hints of domestic violence being laughed upon are troubling.

All in all this is a pathetic film.

Today I watched the movie. So, I know the story.

Story- Ranvijay Singh (Ranbir Kapoor) loves his father greatly. He can do anything for his father. One day his father rebuked him and asked him to leave the house. Then he left the house with Gitanjali (Rasmika Mandana). After a few days, his father got attacked and greatly injured. So, Ranvijay came back and vowed to cut the man's throat. He became totally obsessed to kill the man. He came to know his brother-in-law's involvement in his father's attack. Therefore, he killed his brother-in-law and many other people. Finally, Ranvijay came to know Abraar (Bobby Deol) was the man behind the attack. Even though Abraar was his relative he cut his throat with his own hands. Abraar was a mute person but he was very dangerous. At the climax it was revealed that Abraar had a brother who did plastic surgery to look like Ranvijay. Therefore, now that person looks exactly like Ranvijay and he will seek revenge. It seems there will a sequel of his movie.

Thanks for posting the synopsis.

smiley36so the plastic surgery story is true! I had read on Twitter and thought it was a joke!

Plastic surgery of Bobby to look like Ranbir? smiley37

You're welcome. No, Bobby Deol's plastic surgery didn't happen in the movie. He was killed by Ranvijay (Ranbir Kapoor). His (Bobby Deol) brother went through plastic surgery to look like Ranbir Kapoor and he will take revenge in future (upcoming movie).

I always read Rangan's reviews (either before or after having watched the movie)...

I liked his last sentences:

"I can’t say I liked Animal in its entirety, but amidst so many filmmakers whose work seems either derivative or boring or award-seeking or critical-approval-seeking, this rawness is exhilarating. I think those of us who like these movies may do so because – at least for three hours – they bring out the animal in us that we keep caged at all other times.. "
