I watched GOW 1 & finished it..even appreciated it. But couldn't complete GOW 2. Same with RamanRaghav. I literally got scared with the psycho portrayed by Navaz & stopped the movie when he kills his sister and b-i-l.

So this movie is not my cup of tea. Plus if this movie shows violence just for the shock value or to top previous treatment, then it's bound to annoy me. So bay bye.

How does that make sense?

This is the Indian Version of TED BUNDY/Joe Goldberg

The movie has been very clear right from the announcement that it's about A psychopath

Anil's character has been shouting right from teaser to trailer, that his SON is bloody CRIMINAL

Also, the spoilers say that rape was "IMPLIED" NOT SHOWN. Both of those things are different

You can appreciate a movie for a lot of things and still hate the Main character. It's not necessary that the main character has to be a saint. They can be psychopaths

There is a reason why this movie has been rated "A" because as adults your actions are your own and have nothing to do with movies you watched to books you read

A person's actions have more to do with their mentality than anything else

Sandeep Vanga is controversial. But so JK Rowling

That does not mean everyone should stop reading Harry Potter

If Movies/Books really shaped personalities everyone watching Ramayan would have turned into a saint.

If Ted Bundy were to be portrayed as an abused child with weepy background music and romantic songs with his love interest, yes it would be problematic. It would be problematic if his crime were thus justified or even neutralized.

Hirani did it in Sanju. That terrorist criminal domestic abuser Sanjay Dutt was portrayed as a sympathetic character.

Vanga did it with toxic masculinity in Kabir Singh. People are expecting him to do much worse in Animal.

There is a huge difference between above and portraying a character without bias.

Also, society has a culture. Culture shapes art, and art shapes culture. Human prefrontal cortex doesn't even mature until 26. At least until that age, audience does get influenced. Beyond that depends on maturity and education. Those who make art cannot wash their hands off what happens after.

Zac Efron's Ted Bundy had an entire romantic arc ending in an emotionally loaded conversation.

Gossip Girl one of the main leads is a known Rapist with a huge female fan following

TVD is full of problematic characters

I am sure there are many examples all over the world.

I mean I can only speak for myself. I am not 26, but just listening to the announcement trailer, it was clear to me that Character is a psychopath. Not something to aspire to.

But if you are planning to load an entire protest stop writing stories about Antiheroes/Psychopath/Criminals not just by one or two directors but by everyone all over the world. Go for it, mate. I will support you smiley20

Violence is not my preferred genre either

But until then I will trust my judgment to differentiate between good and bad.

I hope he does. I don't see any other ending for him.

Yeah, I have always talked against justifying such characters and writing soft-focus stories about them. You know it better than anyone else, mate. smiley36

I've protested the portrayal of that sex assaulter and child trafficker, Karna, for years.

If you're talking about my writing, then factual portrayal of what someone did is hugely different from justification.

Are you telling me Vanga did not justify Kabir Singh? It was an entire frigging love story for that character. People are expecting worse in Animal.

And yeah, Ted Bundy's portrayal did cause significant protests in the U.S. I'm not the go-out-on-the-streets and chant type, but I was one of those people who did not like it and told everyone I knew what it was about.

The Gossip Girl issue should show you quite clearly a large chunk of audience cannot differentiate.

I did not talk about your writing at all. Where did that come from? smiley36

See, From my perspective if a person behaves like Ranbir's character has been behaving all through the announcement video, Teaser, and Trailer. Then No matter how many weepy songs you play, I will still hate him

I hate this character already. Just appreciate Ranbir's performance. Like I always wanted him to do an all-out negative character.

The point is, as adults we should be mature enough to see a psychopath for a psychopath

No matter the monologues, weepy songs, or romantic ones. He is problematic. Period

With the Gossip girl, I have realized that it's not like they can differentiate. It's more like they want to look beyond it. Like they have some serious issues with boundaries

They do not understand How much is too much? They think chuck doing the bare minimum in the final season makes up for it

Which I think is the problem. Its not that they don't know, its more like they still want to overlook all of it to support the character

If they are actually going to overlook things like rape and trading for the hotel. Then that's more on them, right?

That is not to say Vanga is a saint. He is not.

But still, as an adult, you have to start differentiating. You have to
