^^ khala=> The world is very polarized. Even "red" state Texas is 45% blue. But still not enough to win state-wide. One can expect large numbers to show up supporting Palestine, especially given the huge Islamic enclaves in different cities. But they'd still be a minority for the foreseeable future and will not have an impact on state-wide/ national policy.

Protests happening in over 300 cities in any form it can take! Majority of the world’s citizens are on the right side of the history. This ain’t stopping until Zionism falls.

I don't understand how anyone can claim to care about the hostages and then support Netanyahu. He is fooling everyone with his words.

Americans in general are moving away from blue states because of high energy costs, horrific regulatory regimes and unfriendly business climates, not to mention crime, lawlessness, drugs, homelessness and other maladies.

According to the population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, between 2020 and 2022, California's population dropped by more than half a million people and based on U.S. Census American Community Survey migration data, Texas has been the #1 destination for departing Californians within the last decade.

It's not enough if they destroy one state; they have to carry their "values" to other states too.

I am not saying that these are the only people protesting; just saying what's what ( yes, a tautology! smiley1)

P.S: only moderates should bring about moderate responses. The far left deserves the far right.

I’ve lived in a Red state all my life which only turned blue last election. We have been protesting every single weekend since this genocide started. And we ain’t stopping anytime soon. No such thing as compassion fatigue when there are literally graphic videos of Zionists murdering innocent children and babies.

Anyway, my win for the day is seeing Suella Braverman, biggest dhabba on Brown women get sacked directly as a result of her vicious attacks against peaceful pro-Palestine protests.

BirdieNumNum: Whenever I criticize the Israeli government or Netanyahu you equate that to Israeli's or Jews. This is the second time you have done that. I understand now why when a supreme leader is questioned people start chanting anti-national. Congress was trash, but at least we could openly criticize them without being told we were anti-national.

For some people it is no longer left or right anymore. This is bigger than that, and some political leaders have been exposed.

Here is an old Jewish man of a Jewish organization advocating for Palestinians.

But to those with jingoistic tendencies, people like the Jewish gentleman above do not make sense. To them, it is unfathomable that majority can set aside their own nationalities and religions to stand up for those on the opposite side. Because to them, it’s never about the oppressor versus the oppressed. It’s always about one man made label like nationality, religion, race, ethnicity versus another.

Anyway, here’s some more good news. Many Biden administration employees are also taking a stand against Biden. It’s not just everyday Americans protesting anymore.

At least I have shown some angst at the plight of the palestinians. But there's no expression of disgust at what the hamas are up to. How about asking them to unconditionally release the hostages? Netanyahu is a madman for wanting to wipe out the hamas, but the hamas and the palestinians who voted them in and are proud of what the hamas did are boy scouts?

all that aside, I do prefer strong leaders who dont go wobbly. Whether it's Xi or Putin or the tin-pot middle-east terrrorist supporting dictators and theocracies, it's a tough world and no place for timid characters. So if someone's positions dont align with my belief of what is in national interest, sure, I might consider them anti-national... like the maoists, naxals, looters.

@bold: I never once talked about the extinction of Israel nor Palestine. You seem to have 100% imagined that.

I keep criticizing the Israeli government and Netanyahu. I admire the Israeli's that are in Israel and speaking up to bring back hostages and stop the genocide. From the start I have supported the hostages and I am against the killing of innocent civilians. I have compassion for the hostages, and compassion for the innocent civilians getting killed due to Hamas and Netanyahu.

Your angst lasts for 10 seconds. You jump to defend Netanyahu and equate the man to innocent Israelis who have no say in the actions of that mad man.

It is a tough world, so you admire the likes of Xi, Putin and Netanyahu all of whom have the killing of innocent people in common and have no conscience. Do you admire Hitler too, because he was living in a tough world?

The claim of equivalence ("Hamas has been killing people, Israel has been killing people, hence neither Hamas not Israel can stake out a moral high-ground against the other") does not bear scrutiny because the similarity is based on oversimplification. Hamas has conducted many anti-Israel attacks in both Israel and the Palestinian territories including large-scale bombings against Israeli civilian targets, rocket attacks, road side bombings and suicide bombings. Israel is only going after Hamas and other militant groups who are hiding amongst civilians, some of who by the way actually support Hamas!

Simply put, civilian casualties are intentional / deliberate with Hamas attacks. With Israel attacks, they are an unfortunate collateral.

Also, back in 2009, Israel did declare an unilateral ceasefire but Palestinian militant groups flouted the ceasefire agreements time and again.

This time around, Israel is not stopping till Hamas is rooted out. Why should it, when past ceasefires held no meaning? This is not about answering to the outside world, this is about their existence.

I am going to quote Mark Ruffalo who put it best:

Mark Ruffalo

No. Sorry. They are not “collateral damage” they are human beings who happen to have been born there and live there and most of those human beings are stuck there. Have some compassion, they are Palestinians not buildings or roads or things, they are human beings and so are the hostages whose lives you may also be destroying. They aren’t “collateral damage” either.
