Another dauting total posted by South Africa having put in to bat first. It was a brave call by New Zealand to bowl first despite knowing how dangerous South Africa have been in setting totals right throughout the tournament. Bavuma got off to a start, however, once again he failed to capitalize on that start as he was caught at slip. Wasn't one of the easiest pitches to bat on, and Rassie van der Dussen clearly struggled to get the timing right at the start of the innings. Despite all that fight, he took his time and built a solid partnership with de Kock - their second 200-run stand of the tournament. In the process, both the top-order batters also notched up their respective centuries. It was de Kock's fourth ton, while RvD's second ton of the tournament.
Matt Henry walked off due to a hamstring injury, and South Africa targeted Neesham towards the end overs. Boult was the pick of the bowlers as he got an early wicket and his economy was pretty impressive too. NZ also put down a few chances, and they weren't up to the mark in the field. Miller gave the finishing touches with a brisk fifty, and the Kiwis have a tough task to chase down such a massive total. The South African bowlers are in form, so it's not going to be easy for NZ to deal with them in the run chase. Join us back in 30 minutes for the second essay..
