IObviously they can't do a lot. But i think as the face of the show they should at the very least discuss with makers a little. Especially more senior actors should. I know ultimately they will just have to deliver whats requested but i welcome things like what Prachi and Tushar did by speaking frankly.
A guy like VJ can definitely bring extra even to the shitty story to infuse something there. An extra monologue or some tehraav to show his guilt, his frustration with Seerat , his tadap for Sahiba, more guilt for not making her feel secure - all this can salvage at least a little this crap plot.

It is after all a matter of perspective. Now Sahiba believes Seerat changing Angads shirt and hugging him at odd times is wrong , Angad believes he deserves free hugs at night from ema proposing bhabi and all other changing benefits .

Prachi and Tushars frankness in ivs might also have to do with the fact that their screen time has reduced drastically, Tushars character was put on hold. So really it is a nothing to lose scenario.
Not comparable to leads giving interviews, even a Harshad Chopda on Star is unable to stop the writers from butchering his character and isn't able to openly call out ph.

Anything that isn't finite is going to be trash sooner or later. But I do enjoy shows like Dhruv Tara and Tmkoc(notwithstanding the racism and other regressive jokes , also forgive me for mentioning other shows, needed to give examples)
Actors are at the lower rung, their job is to act, anything else is additional. Storytelling is cvs job, now they need a major overhaul across ph houses.
Majority of the good writers shifted to ott. Ultimately they want to tell a finite story and have more control over fate of characters.
I truly don't see cable TV surviving ott onslaught in the long run.
