My pleasure! ❤️ Yes, colon cancer in young people is a silent killer. I lost a family member recently to it after only 7 months of fight. It’s still fresh and I still cannot believe she is gone from time to time. She was only 25. The diagnosis hit us all like a ton of bricks. It was caught too late, when it had already metastasized. No family history of polyps or Lynch syndrome either. Everyone is in shock. Thank you for your advocacy on Instagram or wherever you choose to do it. Every little bit of awareness helps. So many people our age and younger have no idea at all.
Omg, I’m so so sorry for your loss Khala. May she attain peace and the highest level of paradise. I can’t imagine what you and your family members must’ve gone through in these difficult times. If you ever want to talk about it, I’m always a message away. I’m a bottle of grief and loss, having lost over 13 family members in the last decade. I can truly empathise and will always be here for you if you just want a virtual shoulder to lean on or just someone who will listen. ❤️
There are so many young people dying, whether it’s cancer or cardiac related conditions. Two months ago, my cousin’s husband suddenly dropped face down while playing soccer with my brother and friends. He went into cardiac arrest and was declared completely brain dead. He was only 21 and married for less than a year. It’s possible that he may have suffered a genetic heart condition that he was unaware of. I can’t even tell you how much his loss destroyed our family. My brother was traumatised, being a newly graduate paramedic and having witnessed his fall, he felt like he failed him even though he did all that he could. He was such a beautiful young man, incredibly sweet, always happy and so so kind. He was like us, he would feed stray cats everywhere and when his case went viral on TikTok, someone commented that they had gone to school with him, and that he had protected them from bullies and gave them his lunch. I can still hear his mother screaming in the hospital while his wife was falling on the ground, inconsolable.
This just reinforces the point that even if you look or feel healthy, don’t let young age fool you into believing that cancer or significant health conditions can’t affect you. Regardless, everyone should ALWAYS do routine checkups and make sure you don’t overlook or undermine even the slightest symptom.
Much love to you. In light of all things happening in the world, I was feeling extra emotional today so I rambled away. Hoping these instances will help raise more awareness.
