Oh yes! The Ringer...I only knew the German title (which is like 'taken for a ride')...well, I won't watch it as a Hindi remake (and neither a remake of Champions).

Don't know why Aamir wants to do it...

The first one was produced/presented (? and written) by the Farrelly Brothers, and the second one was a modified version directed by the Farrelly Brothers.

Just the time. The Ringer had the typical comedy movie structure of that time, Champions' structure is according to today's comedy style. Besides one of the Farrelly Brothers winning an Oscar just a few years back has given them the respect, they've also become Oscar-baity. That's all.
