In Hollywood, girl group movies are not uncommon, there are "Mean Girls," "Chicago," "Bridesmaids," and "Annihilation." However, the trend has only recently taken hold in Bollywood, with probably "Lipstick Under My Burkha" in 2016 marking its beginnings. Then came "Veere Di Wedding" in 2018, which i think played an important role in propelling the current trend.

The latest addition is "Thank You for Coming. The trailer of "Dhak Dhak" released today and next year we have "The Crew".

There was also a movie announced with Priyanka, Katrina and Alia Bhatt. Probably shelved now.

The question remains: will this trend continue or fade away over time?

Personally, I would love to see more of these "high on estrogen movies," as Box Office India call them, and hope they become a lasting fixture in bollywood.

The movie w Kareena/tabu/Krithi would probably be a good measure of how much these movies can make

True. The fate of that film will be important to the trend. If it proves successful, there might be a a surge in such movies.

There's a good buzz around it for now, and i think as the release date approaches it will only increase with trailers and songs. So, fingers crossed for a positive outcome.

I love films which explore female bonding. We have had too many idiotic films focusing on male friendships and how a female comes between them. But I absolutely loathe chick-lit films exploring first world problems. There should be a relevant plot and diverse distinctive characters- like Ladies vs Ricky Behl where the girls from different backgrounds come together to take down conman Ranveer.

And we shouldn't imitate the West and try to replace successful movie franchises with women. Looking at you Oceans 8 and Ghostbusters.

Dor is my personal favorite. It’s not fluff. Its still a feel good film.

I actually would love to see Bollywood do a proper Thelma and Louise. But ONLY in the hands of a good director.

I think Aisha was a good film in this genre. It focused on female bonding and was an adaptation of Emma. If you ignore the latter part, and see it in itself, it's a nice film.

I also liked Veere di wedding. It was entertaining.

Aisha’s story was also really close to the Hollywood film Clueless.

It's worth noting that Bollywood, like any film industry, tends to respond to market demands and trends. If audiences continue to embrace "high on estrogen movies," as you've aptly described them, and if these films continue to offer unique and compelling stories, then there's a good chance that the trend will persist and evolve over time.

Ultimately, the future of this trend in Bollywood will be shaped by a combination of audience support, creative innovation, and industry dynamics.
